1630 not 1830 or 1790

[edit]

Dont make any changes or jump into any statement as not true without showing any basis. I was in Lawis for a visit the structure in front of it was a memorial with its inscription that the Kota was built in year 1790. Basing from this then your 1830 edit will be untrue. on the upper hand I read book written during spanish time I found out that the structure was built in 1630 and not in 1790.... So I didn't follow the year 1790 as the founding date of the Kota which was posted by the municipality of Madridejos but the year 1630 as the founding date as narrated by fray Medina.Mateothehistorian (talk) 14:50, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever the shelter the early conquistadors built, the kota now was built in 1790. Same time as the buartes everywhere. The Madridejos historian should when their kota was built. Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Sun 14:07, wikitime= 06:07, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Loreto Mangubat

[edit]

He can't possibly have been "grandson of Lapu-lapu" - Lapu-lapu died in 1542 and Mangubat was alive and active around 1870. I could believe 'a direct descendant of' but not grandson. Johnmperry (talk) 07:05, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

>>>>>>>

Loreto was born around 1580. We do not know the exact date of his birth because birth records were not kept long ago as they are.

Mactan Island was pacified around 1500 not 1600

Writing in 1591-1593 Volume 8 page 132 (The philippines Island by H. blair)

ACCOUNT OF ENCOMIENDAS CAMOTE AND MATAN:

"The city of Sanctissimo Nombre de Jesus has of its own, in Camote and Matan (Mactan), two hundred and eighty-seven tributes, which represent one thousand one hundred and forty-eight persons. They are pacified, and have justice, but no instruction, which is needed. For this and the two following one minister is necessary."

Loreto established the first organized settlement in the northern part of the island of bantayan in 1600s not in 1800s.

Also writing in 1630 by Fr. Medina (Bantayan Island)

"The incumbent of the benefice has now built a small fort; but I believe in my soul that, when the Indio catches sight of the enemy, he will abandon it instantly.

also ;

"Lying in front of and very near to Sugbu is an island called Magtang, where Captain Magallanes was killed years ago. It is a low-lying land, and now with so few inhabitants that they do not reach fifty; but when the Spaniards arrived there was a greater number. The ships of our Spaniards passed by, and anchored here. They found many people; for truly the island was thickly populated, and with the most warlike people of the country, as has been seen when they have joined with the Spaniards. They have performed excellent exploits in the service of the Spaniards, and have aided them in conquering the country. The old inhabitants assert that when the Spaniards arrived, the town of Sugbu was so populous that houses extended from Mandave(Mandaue) to San Nicolas(Cebu)" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwaknitthegeat (talkcontribs) 07:59, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What has any of this to do with Madridejos? It's not on Mactan. And how does undisputed birth of Loreto bear on Mangubat? John of Cromer in Philippines transit (talk) mytime= Wed 09:44, wikitime= 01:44, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
