more work needed[edit]

I expanded and cleaned up this article yesterday, but could not consult any book-length biographies of him. I'm not sure he attended Howard Law School in Washington DC, even though the institution's history said it had several locations before settling down in D.C. The 1904 biography I twice cited has him possibly honorary receiving degrees from institutions in Tennessee in the 1890s. For what it's worth, his father does not appear to have owned slaves, and Atkinson attended several Methodist-affiliated institutions, possibly including the law school. However, I don't have the time to research this further, so I write in the hope that someone can verify it.Jweaver28 (talk) 17:34, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
