Propose to change article name to Vtape - the organisation is known as Vtape, rather than V tape. Seazzy (talk) 02:10, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Skill and Career Development for Arts Community

[edit]

Vtape is well known for its internships and programming incubators. I propose adding a section about this to the article. Zipzip01 (talk) 20:56, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My only concern is that it would be written in neutral language and be well-sourced. The programming incubator projects are fairly recent. How much independent coverage is there? There must be some available at least in Toronto media, which would suffice. freshacconci talk to me 15:08, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've had trouble finding sources, would be much appreciated if you can dig in to this! Seazzy (talk) 15:23, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is notoriously difficult to create and maintain articles on artist-run centres. I tried to save an article on YYZ some time ago but it was deleted. The problem is, most independent sources in journals, newspapers and magazines are about the exhibitions themselves, not the space. So, if there are several reviews of an exhibition, that would only count for notability for the artist, not the art space (per WP:NOTINHERITED). There has to be coverage about the art space itself. Some of the earliest ARCs have enough coverage but post-1980 it gets more difficult. I'm sure it's out there. I'll look around. As it stands, the the Quanz essay should be enough to establish notability for Vtape (I know it's notable; we just have to convince other editors of that). But I doubt it's in danger of being deleted. However more is always better. freshacconci talk to me 15:47, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I took a public policy and economics angle and see if anything came up. I'm still searching for something that is specifically about Vtape, but so far keywords for related topics are art spaces, creative economy, cultural economy, cultural planning, cultural policy, community development, economic development, social networks.Zipzip01 (talk) 12:52, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"artist-run-centres" and video/media art distribution/distributors" are probably a good keywords to use.Seazzy (talk) 19:55, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
