[edit]

The two members of the Great Southern Railways DN4 class were built by Peckett of Bristol for the SSR, the first in 1905, the second in 1914. For a tank locomotive they had the unusual wheel arrangement of 4-4-0.

The first, numbered "No.1" and named "Gabriel" was the second locomotive on the line to carry that number, the original being withdrawn and scrapped in 1906.

The second locomotive, numbered "No.3" and originally named "Consiliation" but later renamed "Kent" was the second locomotive to carry this number, the original, named "Ilen" being withdrawn and scrapped in 1914.

"No.1 Gabriel" was scrapped in 1936,"No.3 Kent" in 1953.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tudorminstrel (talkcontribs) 13:24, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RePurpose to cover whole class?

[edit]

This article would be best to be expanded to cover all 5 class members and renamed Peckett 4-4-0T (1906) or something as can then include the preserved member from New Zealand. That needs a little research and its stacked on my mental to-do list. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 11:24, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
