Oceanographic Study?

[edit]

Both the wikipedia article on the history of research ships and the book Enhanced Essentials of Oceanography (by Tom Garrison) make mention of the USS Stewart as being the first vessel to use an echo sounder to map part of the ocean floor, but this article makes no mention of it. This seems like a historical first, and should probably be mentioned in this article.

Go ahead and do it then. Just be sure to add a citation from the book.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 18:23, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
