Language and name
[edit]This is an very biased Wiki. The language should be less subjective.
I hhave the book "The Life and Times of Jemmy Button" and on one page there is a reproduction of the form which lists them as patients in a hospital, where Jemmy Button is written out as James Button. It would be interesting to know if his given name was effectively James or Jemmy. Is Jemmy a diminutive of James?--200.14.108.1 15:36, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Could you provide more specific details about the bias/subjectiveness? Richard001 10:13, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- According to a Spanish article "Jemmy" stands for a material called "Nácar" (in spanish), but I'm really sure what it's translation is. Upon a small search is should be "Nacre" also known as "Mother of Pearl", that's what Jemmy is. Kilroytech 20:08, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Yaghan website
[edit]I have a website building up regarding yaghan culture. I've used MediaWiki to let non-techie user to add/review content.
It's temporary URL is http://yaghan.no-ip.org, and it's up only between 9AM and 7PM Chilean Time.
Under the contents section in the navigation bar is the site itself. I haven't even changed the look yet, so any additions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Since this is a non-profit project, I took some content directly from Wikipedia, and put some placeholders for some of the topics that the site must hold.
Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Kilroytech 20:10, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
