Kinds of Kindness is an upcoming anthology film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou. It stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 21, 2024, by Searchlight Pictures.

Premise

Kinds of Kindness is a triptych fable with segments following a man without choice who tries to take control of his life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems to be a different person; and a woman who is determined to find a specific someone destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.[1]

Cast

Production

Yorgos Lanthimos and Efthymis Filippou wrote the script for the film, originally titled And, under development with Element Pictures and Film4, and Searchlight Pictures agreed to distribute the film, which Lanthimos would direct as well. Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley were set to star in the film with plans to begin shooting in New Orleans in October.[2] In October 2022, Hong Chau,[3] Joe Alwyn,[4] and Mamoudou Athie joined the cast.[5] In a February 2023 interview, Hunter Schafer revealed she had "a little cameo" in the film.[6]

Filming began in October 24, 2022 and went through December 16, 2022 in New Orleans.[7][8] In December 2023, the film was re-titled Kinds of Kindness.[9]

Release

Kinds of Kindness is scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada on June 21, 2024, by Searchlight Pictures.[10]
