Article overly long? (Particularly "Creators" and "Middle Period" sections)

[edit]

There are parts of this article that could use some expansion, but it's already quite long at 8,846 words, not counting citations. Article length can vary, but 5,000 words is usually a good number [1]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:FAQ/Editing#How_long_should_the_ideal_article_be?. It's currently longer than the article for DC Comics, which clocks in at 7,542 words. Looking to articles on other media, the Miramax article is 3,002 words; New Line Cinema 2,174 words; Lionsgate 4,096; Orion Pictures 4,924.

The Creators section alone is 4,778 words, which seems excessive given that almost all the editors and creators listed have their own articles (and Will Dennis probably should have his own). Cutting this down to just lists seems overkill, since some explanation of why each creator is important seems warranted. But I think these should be a sentence or two at most.

If there are no objections, I can start editing these down. I'll move any unique, relevant, and verifiable information elsewhere in the article or into the individual articles. I would welcome help on this as well.

Also, the sub-imprint write-ups in the Middle Period section takes up 1,421 words. This also seems excessive. I'll verify that all the books listed here are also listed in the List of Vertigo publications article and that the subimprint are all noted, then cut the lists (again, assuming there are no objections) and adjust the text where it seems necessary. I started an [additional conversation] on the List talk page to discuss adding additional sections with lists of titles from each sub-imprint. Klintron23 (talk) 23:42, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and removed the "Vertigo X" subsection, since Vertigo X wasn't an imprint/sub-imprint but rather a logo for the 10th anniversary books. I moved a condensed version of the explanation to the Middle Period section. The list of publications article still has information on which books carried the logo.
