Name

[edit]

Can this really be named for more than one Salem? I'd like to see a source please. Katr67 22:10, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There have been three US Navy ships named USS Salem. The entry for all three at DANFS contains the line: "Salem - Cities in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, and Oregon. The first Salem (CL-3) was named for the city in Massachusetts." USS Salem (CA-139) was the third Salem. DANFS Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships entry for USS Salem (CA-139) DANFS is the primary source for many WP pages on US Navy ships. Naaman Brown (talk) 23:44, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir/Madam

The SG-6 radar is labeled "air search" and that is not correct. The SG-6 is a surface search radar. If my menory is correct, the air search radar was an ASR-3 but I am not certain of this. At 83, my memory is a little foggy at times.
