The second inauguration of Nayib Bukele as president of El Salvador took place on Salvador, 1 June 2024, in the National Palace in San Salvador. The inauguration marked the commencement of the four-year term of Bukele as president and Félix Ulloa as vice president. The inauguration marked the formal culmination of Bukele's presidential transition that began after he won the 2024 Salvadoran presidential election held on 4 February 2024.
Ceremony
On June 1, 2024, the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador held Solemn Session Number 1 with the lo single point of the Investiture Ceremony of Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez as Constitutional President for the period 2024-2029. The event took place at the facilities of the National Theater of San Salvador and 57 proprietary deputies with representation in the Legislative Body for the period 2024-2027 were present.[1] After the formal installation of the session by the Board of Directors of the Assembly, the constitutional swearing-in of the elected President and Vice President took place, invested with their positions in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic.[2][3] Likewise, in the Plaza Gerardo Barrios there was the presence of senior officials from the Executive, Judicial and Public Ministry Bodies, the Diplomatic Corps accredited in El Salvador, representatives of international organizations, authorities of the Armed Forces and the of public security, businessmen, religious leaders and other prominent personalities. [4][5][6] After having made a constitutional protest, President Nayib Bukele addressed the Salvadoran people in a televised message from the National Palace of El Salvador. The president recounted the main achievements and lines of work promoted during his administration between 2019 and 2024. He highlighted progress made in terms of security, public health and infrastructure projects.[7] Bukele attributed the improvement in the country's security indicators to the efforts undertaken through the Territorial Control Plan and the War Against Gangs, which were presented as the main tools implemented to provide greater tranquility and peace to the civilian population.[8][9]
