Need more info on the February 20th positive drug test please. --RoSmecher
Ricky is a great RB. I didn't know he played for the Saints (2 things alike between him and Earl Campbell: same college, both played for Saints). And, I also didn't know, he played baseball for, the Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos, and Texas Rangers. He won the Heisman in college, and won the rushing title his first year playing in the NFL. But, he's also, been caught in drug violations, like 3 times. And, I never heard of, his Social Anxiety Disorder. He also has, a twin named, Cassie. C2 aaron 16:29, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
He didnt win the rushing title his first year in the nfl! He was with the saints his first three years. He one the nfl rushing title his first year with the dolphins mabye. He was also backed up in college by the cheifs all-star running back preist holmnes.
Ricky Williams' failed drug test
Even though the drug that caused the failure of the test has not been stated, the news has come as a surprise to many close to Ricky Williams. The report caught Ricky Williams' mother out of surprise and was quoted that she'd "bet my life he's not smoking marijuana."
It is known that the NFL has a list of nearly a dozen so-called supplements that are banned. To an extreme that even too much water in a urine sample can trigger a positive test result because it can be deemed a masking agent for drugs. Since his reinstatement into the NFL Williams has been in the NFL's drug treatment program, and that would not include testing for alcohol.
The Dolphins have to obviously be frustrated because of the bubble over Williams after he had resurrected his reputation last season. The latest drug-test failure practically ends Miami's chances of trading the player. If the appeal were to get denied, Williams would completely miss the 2006 season and practically end any chance of landing himself a job for the 2007 season. The Denver Broncos had begun to inquire about the availability and asking price for Ricky Williams, but now that this report has leaked the media there has to be a small chance their interest will continue.

2006 suspension

2006 Salary
The rumour broke that he's making half a million this year, but all the reports on his salary say C$240,000. On the one hand, we might have a situation like Raghib Ismail, where he got a pittance in football salary at a substantial amount in "appearance fees" from the ownership group. On the other hand, Rocket was probably a much more valuable property for appearances than Ricky will be. Does anybody else think that's the case, or are they just getting his last year's salary confused with what the ARgos are paying him? —C.Fred (talk) 01:04, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- There is a story in the Montreal Gazette that says that his base salary is $240,000, but he could double that with incentives, which the article says is likely tied to attendance figures. Qutezuce 01:15, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- There is now a story in the Winnipeg Sun where Tom Wright denies the contract is worth anything near $500k. Perhaps we should put in some language about the reports conflicting. Qutezuce 06:39, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Sure go ahead.--J3wishVulcan 15:37, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Have you started Ayurvedic medical practice, which I have seen in the Ayurveda page ? User:Dbbajpai1945@sify.com
- Lets be accurate with these numbers, and not inflate them to make things unrealistic. He hasn't exactly done too much in the CFL this year... --Mcmlxxviii 14:22, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- He's been injured, football-related injury, so while that probably means he won't make his incentives, it doesn't change what the contract value was reported at. —C.Fred (talk) 03:48, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
No proof of drug relapse
I have changed this statement --"On May 11, 2007, league medical advisors revealed that Williams tested positive for marijuana in April. This is expected to delay Williams' application for reinstatement to the league until at least September", to reflect the facts that are known. The 'Ricky failed ' reports are based on an anonymous source, thus not fact. As of May 13, there is no solid proof Ricky Williams failed a 5th drug test. The changes I made are fact. I don't know how to link to articles, s if someone can help with that I'd be fine. BUT...do NOT claim that it IS fact until the anonymous source is proved correct. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nanaharas (talk • contribs) 04:57, 13 May 2007 (UTC).
- I have re-added the statement, since that assertion is stated in the referenced article. I have also restored that reference, which was inadvertently deleted in the course of the edits. However, I have added "sources say" or similar language to indicate the nature of the information. All things considered, it is correct to point out that these are allegations against Williams and not facts, especially in light of allegations made recently (and retracted) toward Barry Bonds. However, omission of the allegations would, IMHO, be a gross omission right now. Of course, if the allegations prove false, all reference to them should be deleted from the article. —C.Fred (talk) 06:50, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the article still reads pretty much as I changed it, but the part where Ricky asserts he is clean was deleted. I am adding it back.As I said, I don't know how to site links, but the FULL statement is as written, and appears in the Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel. Nanaharas 19:44, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
