Very good work done by the user Vrac to translate the article from the french... May be that article could become a featured article in the future. Ajor 18:52, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to user Lovelaughterlife for proofreading my translation of the Léonce Perret article. However, a couple of the edits have changed the meanings of the original text:

  • (At the start of the Film career: actor then director section) The original French sentence is : « Plutôt renié par le milieu du théâtre, le cinéma paraît à Léonce Perret une prolongation de son activité théâtrale derrière les caméras. » This means that the theatre world of that time looked down upon the cinema, whereas Léonce Perret did not look down on it, he saw working behind the camera (i.e. in the cinema) as an extension of his theatrical work.
  • (In the screenwriter section) This sentence : « He also collaborated with other filmmakers on some scripts such as Koenigsmark written with René Champigny and Madam Sans-Gêne with the American Forrest Halsey. » means that there were two films : 1) he collaborated with René Champigny on the film Koenigsmark, and 2) he collaborated with the American Forrest Halsey on the film Madame Sans Gêne.

Thanks…Vrac 00:58, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification. I understood the first one, but I completely messed it up when typing :) thanks... and the second error, I have no idea what happened there. Anyways, this is a really good translation. Good work, Vrac! It might even be good article/featured article worthy sometime soon! ;) --lovelaughterlife♥talk? 03:10, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from peer review

Here are two comments from the peer review on this article that I need a second opinion on: (My responses are in bold type)

  • "Quotes" is like a trivia section which is not recommended. Incorporate these quotes, if they are absolutely necessary, in the main article. For ways to do that, you can check to of my article: Demosthenes and El Greco. I don't know if it's best to remove it. I'll propose it on talk page.
  • Get rid of the "See also" section. Incorporate these links in the main article, if they are absolutely necessary. Again, I don't see how this change is necessary. Will propose it on talk page.

Please comment on these two issues. Thanks, lovelaughterlife♥talk? 20:59, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the first issue, I have no idea. About the second, I don't think the link theatre of France is pertinent, Léonce isn't famous for his work in the theatre. However, the other link (History of film) is more pertinent, should get rid of the section "See Also", I don't know, maybe the presence of this section will encourage some people to add other pertinent link... GA fail

No citations. Alientraveller 18:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that, before we begin nominating it for awards on Wikipedia, we must find citations for the facts within the article. From the various Peer Reviews that this article has gone through, the main concern was citations. It is so difficult to do this, as English biographies are often difficult to find on Perret. Finding citations is probably the most difficult part about translated articles. Many editors have already expressed that it is a very well-written article. Let's work on finding proof for the statements made, and in the near future, this might actually become a featured article. --lovelaughterlife♥talk? 16:35, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
