Nelson Diebel (born November 9, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois) is a former swimmer from the United States, who won two gold medals at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
As a student of the Princeton University he triumphed on the 100 metres breaststroke, and he was a member of the relay team that won the 4x100 medley. Diebel won a total number of seven American titles, and later on became a swimming coach with the Delaware Otters (1996-2000).
Diebel was a star swimmer at the Peddie School, a small New Jersey Private school with a renowned swimming team. Peddie's B.J. Bedford won a gold in Sydney, and Royce Sharp, Jennifer Smart (Bermuda), Andrew Rutherford (Hong Kong), and Peter Wright all represented their country at various Olympics. All of them swam under legendary swim coach Chris Martin.
