Jade Puget
Jade Errol Puget (born November 28, 1973) [1] is the guitarist for the American band AFI, which he joined in 1998. Before joining AFI, Puget played in various bands, including Loose Change and Redemption 87. Template:Guitarist infobox

Jade Puget's recordings with the band include the EPs Black Sails (1999), All Hallows (1999), The Days of the Phoenix (2001), and 336 EP (2002), as well as the full length albums Black Sails In The Sunset (1999), The Art of Drowning (2000), Sing the Sorrow (2003) and Decemberunderground (2006). AFI won a VMA for best rock video, "Miss Murder".
Puget's influence as a musician contributed to AFI's change over the years, as is evident from the differences between the albums Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes (1997, pre-Puget) and Black Sails in the Sunset (1999, post-Puget). The first song he wrote for AFI was "Malleus Maleficarum" off Black Sails in the Sunset, which he states in an interview on AFI's I Heard a Voice DVD.
Personal life
Puget has a brother named Smith Puget, who is AFI's tour manager, a half sister (Alicia), and a half brother named Gibson (Casian). Gibson reads the first segment of the untitled hidden poem on Sing the Sorrow. Puget is also dating nowadays with model, Marissa Festa.
Puget claimed to leave high school early due to a feeling of uselessness at school. In an interview he said "I had a car and a license and felt that school was holding me back. Back then I just wanted to get drunk and hang with my friends, but now I know better. If given a second chance, I would have totally stayed in school." He later took preliminary tests and got into UC Berkeley. He has a bachelor's degree in social theory. In fact, Puget is the only member of AFI to graduate college as Davey, Adam, Geoff and Mark all dropped out after only a few months at college, deciding they would prefer to continue with AFI full-time, and Hunter did a similar thing with his previous band, The Force.
Trivia
- Puget has recently remixed Marilyn Manson's newest single Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand). The remix is titled as "Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand) (Inhuman Remix by Jade E Puget)". It is found as a bonus track on Marilyn Manson's newest LP; Eat Me, Drink Me (2007). Also, he has recently remixed the song "Where the Moss Slowly Grows" by Tiger Army off their latest album Music From Regions Beyond. The song it self is only available through purchasing the entire album via iTunes.
- He shares the straight edge lifestyle with Davey Havok, AFI's singer. However, the band itself is not straight edge.
- Puget has several tattoos, including an "18" on his arm (which was originally a "13"), a cat jumping through a 9 (a tribute to the band Nine Lives), a tattoo he shares with Nick 13 of Tiger Army, and Davey), and the word "Committed" arched across his stomach. On his arms, he has the words "Boys Don't Cry" (a homage to The Cure) and the words "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (a Joy Division tribute).
- He sports a bleached "mullet hawk" haircut, which was recently named 'Jadehawk' by some fans on the Official AFI Message Board, as well as tiny sideburns which he is well-known for and are often lovingly dubbed 'Jadeburns' by the fan community.
- He has a Chihuahua named Munch.
- He plays Gibson Les Paul Studio Guitars through Mesa/Boogie Dual-Rectifier heads and Marshall cabs. However, he has been known to play a Gibson SG on occasion. He uses D'Addario Exl115 11-49 gauge strings. He is also endorsed by D'Addario.
- Jade is also working on a side project with Davey Havok called Blaqk Audio. They recently released their first two songs, Bitter for Sweet and Stiff Kittens, to the public.
