Fabrizio Moretti (nicknamed Fab) is the drummer in the American band The Strokes.

He was born on June 2, 1980 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to an Italian father and a Brazilian mother.[1] Moretti has a brother. He was raised Christian, but has stated that he is an atheist[citation needed]. He and his family moved to New York City when he was about 2, and as a teenager there he attended the Dwight School with fellow band members Nick Valensi, Julian Casablancas, and Nikolai Fraiture.

Trivia

  • Moretti dated Drew Barrymore from 2002 until January 2007, after they met backstage during a Strokes concert. Rumors of engagement arose several times, but the wedding never happened and in an interview, Moretti once stated that he believes "...marriage is not anything that will secure the future of your relationship,”[This quote needs a citation] and therefore plans to never get married[citation needed].
  • Despite living in New York City since a tender age, Moretti speaks Portuguese quite well and has done some interviews on Brazilian TV.
  • A trademark of Moretti's is his vintage Coca Cola shirts. Another is the use of Ahead drum sticks.
  • He is 5' 10" (1.78m)
  • He has played the drums since age 3.[citation needed]
  • Fab plays guitar and writes his own songs.
  • He plays drums in the backing band for Har Mar Superstar.
  • Jonathan from The Parks, described Moretti as 'a real influence to my drumming technique to this very day.'[This quote needs a citation]
  • At the Fuji Rock Festival in July 2006, during the performance of "Ask Me Anything", Moretti danced across the stage as Julian Casablancas sang "God is trying to talk to Fab" as a potential insult, due to him claiming to be an Atheist.
  • In his song 'Carolina' from the album 'Gemstones' (2005) Adam Green mentions Fab Moretti.
  • On his last tour in Australia supporting Har Mar Superstar, he suggested that he wanted to move to Adelaide or Gold Coast.
