It is part of Township High School District 211, which also includes William Fremd High School, Hoffman Estates High School, Palatine High School, and Schaumburg High School

History

Conant opened its doors to students in 1964, and was the first high school built within Schaumburg Township, the fourth in District 211. It was named after James Bryant Conant, a chemist and educator who was a leading authority on teacher education, helping to model the high school system used today.

In 2005, Conant had an average composite ACT score of 27. The average class size is 25.7. The United States Department of Education has recognized Conant High School as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Conant was also deemed the best school in AP testing by the College Board in 2006.[1]

The Math Team has progressed to the Illinois State Finals in both of the past 2 years. Conant High School won the summer 1980 National Championship BOA Marching Band competition.

Athletics

Conant competes in the Mid-Suburban League West Conference and Illinois High School Association. Its mascot is the Cougars. The school is successful in wrestling, while in recent years girls' gymnastics and cheerleading have won State of Illinois Championships. Throughout the mid to late 1980s the boys gymnastics team strung together a series of very successful seasons, along with a ranking of second in the nation, according to a national gymnastics magazine. Conant Varsity basketball is usually very good. The 2006-07 team upset state powers Thorton and Saint Joseph's. They even made it to the sweet 16 in the state tournament.
