All subregions should be listed explicitly and not assume they are only intermunicipal entities (which accessorily are not statistic subdivisions but real administrative entities, so they should be listed below, probably using a smaller font: we can safely eliminate the subgrouping by type of intermunicipal entity from this box).

World cup incident

Both "incidents" (nistelroy and rooney) are pointless media speculations, in both cases no one truly "involved" confirmed any kind of "incident"

The "world cup incident" section seems to be way taking up way more space than it should. More importantly, it mentions that there was speculation that Ronaldo affected the sending-off, while there is no description of the event itself, Rooney's stamping and pushing of Ronaldo (was that Ronaldo's fault really?) It just focuses on how the English media used him a scapegoat without taking an objective view of the event itself. The section seems pretty biased and way too big. Xioyux 02:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That section is a disgrace. The man is somehow responsible for Wayne Rooney being a loose cannon? Look at this article in other languages and you will find little if any mention of this "incident". Only the most bitter England fans in denial and muck-raking journalists would come to this absurd conclusion. This section doesn't even describe the event - it simply suggests Christiano was at fault. Look at the YouTube video one more time and I defy you to put the blame on anyone other than Rooney. Ronaldo isn't even within 12 feet of Rooney when the offense is committed. Please grow up folks. - Plasticbadge 23:59, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely. This is Rooney's incident not Ronaldo's. Deman7001 02:16, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This section should be no longer than a couple of sentences. This incident is now long forgoten and as mentioned above had nothing to do with Ronaldo, although the press backlash afterwards might be worth mentioning if only to point out that Ronaldo was made a scapegoat for Rooney's sending off. If I don't hear any objections about this over the next few days I'll shorten the section myself. (Dinosv 13:47, 18 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Height

He's 1,85m tall. it's relativelly unimportant how it converts into imperial measures, as the empire is long gone —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.84.210 (talk) 16:49, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not 100% on this one but I believe he is 6'2" and not 6'0" like stated on his page here. I've heard many football analysts refer to him as being a "big" guy at 6 feet 2 inches. It is also evident when you look at photos of him. On the field, he appears to be taller than most of the players. The terminator1000 00:19, 14 April 2007 (UTC)the_terminator1000[reply]

There is a template that is used here that calculates from metres to feet and inches. If you can find an article or profile that states your claim then you can use it to redo the height. Kingjeff 00:54, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I change the height to 184cm based on the profile on this page premierleague.com profile. I remove the reference from Official Manchester United website since it doesn't list his height there. Martin tamb 09:23, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Too much emphasis on 06/07 season.

I think there's too much emphasis on this current season. He has been at Manchester United for over four years and yet under "Manchester United" over half of the content describes his form this season. It's not even the end of the season yet and it's already cluttered. In a few years time this article will be a novel. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.0.226.75 (talk) 02:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Just something

It's quite clear that Ronaldo is one of the, uglyest people on earth if not the outright best, player in the world. There's no doubt at all. So why is this not at all mentioned? I know it's minor but he's certainly deserving of it...

Playing Style Section

Is there anyway we can add a playing style section to Cristiano's official wikipedia. We can talk about how Ronaldo is a new breed of Winger. Wingers were usually short players with good technical abilities that would usually just cross the ball in to box for forwards to head in. Cristiano has evolved into a new breed of winger. Tall and muscualr and built like a striker, who makes runs into the box. We can also about his flamboyent style of play with array of tricks (stepovers and other dribbling). I think a section like this would be really helpful on people just getting into football. It can also explain why he's adore by many fans and hated just as much by other fans.

I've added this section a few days ago. Feel free to update/improve on it. Lpy4606 04:02, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Influence on signing Nani

i have read in several Portuguese literatures, as well as one from spain, that ronaldo had SAf's ear full for nearly two years about signing Carlos Almeida (nani) who not only is his childhood and sporting academy compatriot, but the scottie to his jordan if you will.

i believe that there should be at least a side note on the part their friendship has played in bringing the two wingers together in Manchester, if not the literature which is available to anyone regarding google with the key terms i have used, but also, by the symbolic allowance of ronaldo to nani, in his wearing of his shirt in ronaldo's(short) injury absence. my favourte person is called ali adil

by the way, these two are such good friends, having seen them out and about together, they get on so well, i think its wonderful that ronaldo is accomadating Nani at his house, until nani has a place of his own. they also leave training together, and mostly arrive together aswell. just thought id let you all know, =] i have pics of them together in the car, if you want them =] lol. I agree with the influence of style for each famous footballer!

Explaining Cristiano's playing style, as well as other famous footballers, will certainly give this whole article meaning. Why have a whole bio of someone with just naming their acheivements and origin?! I concur that having a 'style' section would certainly give newbies a reason to read a bio, this should definitely be an addition to football players, as well as some other sports. It just makes sense. Great job by-the-way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.91.37.33 (talk) 19:00, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signing for Manchester United

In the autobiography of Phil Thompson, former assistant manager of Liverpool, it states that when Gerard Houllier was the manager, Liverpool were on the verge of signing Cristiano Ronaldo for an fee of around £4m. The fee had been agreed with Sporting Lisbon and then Manchester United made a bid of just over three times that. It was considered to be slightly suspicious. I don't know if this would count as a valid source for the article, but I can certainly provide valid quotes if required. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 135.196.89.118 (talk) 15:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When Manchester United went to Portugal, to play Sporting club de portugal, they had already agreed to Buy Cristiano Ronaldo, as he has revealed in his recent book, 'moments', and im not saying that liverpool werent going to bid on Ronaldo, but im jsut saying that when united played sporting, they had already bought Ronaldo. =] Kirsty x —Preceding unsigned comment added by KrazyKrusty (talkcontribs) 08:34, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a quote from Thommo's autobiography related to this section:

"I was sitting in a lounge at Anfield having some lunch and looking at the big TV screen. Up came the news United had signed Ronaldo from Lisbon for £12.2m. Gerard and myself nearly choked on our food.

"Gerard said: 'Contact Tony Henry,' and I went straight out and rang him. I said: 'what happened? More importantly, what happened with the price?' He said: 'After you had been with me, I got a phone call the following week and was told to drop everything on the deal. Hand on heart, I really don't know what happened.'

"I went back and told Gerard the story. What happened, God only knows. For the fee to jump from £4m to £12m, especially as they seemed so desperate, was surprising to say the least." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.34.160.145 (talk) 15:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In Cristiano Ronaldo's Recently released book 'Moments' he mentions the point in which he signs for Manchester United, he States that before the match he knew his destiny was at Manchester United, and that they had bought him, Now where is there a Mention of Liverpool. i mean i have heard that Liverpool were going to sign him, but they thought of him as too young, personally i dont care anymore, he signed for the better club, and he seems as thought he's going to stay. =] lol. thats whats important. and he seems to get on with the lads at united, i mean ive seen them together, and they all get on great. =] so we know he signed for united, and thats whats important, the rest, is history. =] xxxKrazyKrusty 23:35, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If things that happened in the past weren't important then why would Wikipedia exist? Anyway, the point here is that his transfer was highly dubious in the way that it was conducted between Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon. The player wouldn't have actually been involved in that process at all until the fee had been agreed and United had been given permission to talk to him, otherwise it's what's called "tapping up". If Ronaldo had mentioned the Liverpool involvement in his book, he'd be implicating his club in possible illegal transfer dealings, in much the same way as Jaap Stam did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.34.160.145 (talk) 17:55, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

he didnt mention liverpool, he just said that when he was in the sporting lisbon Vs Manchester United match in August 2003 he knew that united had signed him, he knew the evening before, but he never thought that he would be going to manchester so soon, he thought he would be at sporting for another year. thats all. =] KrazyKrusty (talk) 08:55, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up the Section under Manchester United?

In my opinion, there is too much emphasis on each season at United. I'm looking to clean-up that section, but would like some feedback from everyone on this matter. Do you think we should leave it as it is or should we really clean it up?Eg the paragraph on the diving incidents. Can we just remove that and state that Ronaldo has been involved in diving controversies since his first season in England? And the paragraph on the current season. Do we really need to mention those specific match details? I mean the article will be severely overloaded if we are going to include details of every match he scored in.Lpy4606 12:24, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

It occurred to me that this article is not really 'neutral'. Calling someone gifted is one thing, but to say he's got 'superb technical ability' is a little exaggurated. And openly discussing the correctness of the red card is absolutely useless.
