New Year's Revolution 2005 was the first annual New Year's Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It took place on January 9 2005 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico.[1] The official theme song was "Race Against Time" by James Johnston.[2]
The main event was an Elimination Chamber match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship involving Triple H, Edge, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Batista and Randy Orton, which Triple H won, last eliminating Orton after delivering the Pedigree and pinning him.[3] The main matches on the undercard were Kane versus Gene Snitsky and Trish Stratus versus Lita for the WWE Women's Championship.[1]

Background
The main feud heading into New Year's Revolution was between Triple H, Edge, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Batista and Randy Orton over the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. The build-up started at Survivor Series (2004), where 'Team Orton' defeated 'Team HHH' in a 4-on-4 Survivor Series match to win one night as General Manager of RAW for each member of the team in the four upcoming weeks.[1]
