Rootkit Behavior
I heard that Cheat Engine has some rootkit behavior so some anti-virus products detect it as NTRrootkit-Cheat but the person said that he does not remember where he got it. CommonEditor2345 06:06, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cheat Engine is mistakenly detected as a virus by many Anti-Virus programs. Dark Byte said this himself on the main page of CE.org. LonelyPker 00:14, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Notability
This current article fails WP:WEB, WP:N and WP:V. Can someone please provide some reliable, non-trivial independent third-party sources. DarkSaber2k 11:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yea, the only problem is obtaining even first-party sources, as most of the details are not directly posted on the Cheat Engine site..

Notable + Note on ASLR
This software is definately notable - I know many people that use it and have discovered it on their own.
Second thing is, this software is partially broken in Vista, which should probably be mentioned in with its Vista support. The breaking that I am talking about is that pointers do not work correctly in Vista on applications that have ASLR enabled. The offset of the pointer seems to move around between executions of the target application.
Dark Byte has said, regarding ASLR to use ModuleName+Offset (Cheat Engine will calculate the base address of the module) instead of the address directly. MantisEars 03:13, 11 October 2007 (UTC)MantisEars
illegal?
I've been studying software like this and cheat engine could be illegal. it is only a theory, so do not say stuff like "no it isn't".Iceberg2229 (talk) 00:46, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
