Ramiele Malubay

Ramiele Macrohon Malubay (born September 6, 1987 in Dammam, Saudi Arabia)[1][2] is a Filipino American finalist on the seventh season of American Idol.

Biography

Born in Saudi Arabia of Roger Malubay and Alicia Macrohon, Filipino parents who worked in Saudi Arabia. She grew up in the Philippines and the United States and graduated from Zephyrhills High School in Zephyrhills, Florida.[3] Malubay spent most of her early years in the Philippines, but currently resides in Miramar, Florida. She is currently a nursing student at Broward Community College. She started Polynesian Dancing when she was in the first grade and started singing at the age of twelve. She can speak fluent Tagalog & Ilocano. On YouTube, there is a video in which she sings the Philippine National Anthem, "Lupang Hinirang".

American Idol

She successfully auditioned for American Idol in August, 2007 where she sang Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman". She came in 9th place and is believed to be the shortest contestant in Idol history, standing only 4 feet 11 inches tall.[4] It was frequently shown that a friendship formed between Ramiele and former idol contestant Danny Noriega. Her musical influences would be Aretha Franklin, Jackson 5, Mariah Carey, Lani Misalucha, and Regine Velasquez. [5] Ramiele was eliminated from American Idol on April 2, 2008.

Post Idol

Ramiele said on an interview that she's planning to moved in L.A. with co-idol and best-friend Danny Noriega to work together and help each other in their music careers. She also expresses her willingness to go in her hometown Philippines to pursue her career, following the foot-steps of idol almni Jasmine Trias who make her career in the United States and in the Philippines. According to her friendster account, she is planning to have guestings in various tv shows in U.S., Asian Idol, Australian idol and Philippine idol. Ramiele will join American Idol finalist on their American Idol Summer tour. She said that if all else fail, she'll pursue her studies and try acting.
