Lostprophets is a Welsh rock band formed in Pontypridd in 1997 under the name Lozt Prophetz by vocalist Ian Watkins and rhythm guitarist Mike Lewis. Although widely associated with alternative rock, the band's sound incorporates nu metal, hard rock and alternative metal elements. Since its formation, Lostprophets has released three studio albums, three EPs, and fourteen singles.

Lostprophets rose to fame in Britain with their debut album Thefakesoundofprogress, which became a commercial success and was certified gold in Britain. Their next studio album Start Something granted the band international succsess and the album was certified gold in the US and platinum in Britain, the album has sold 2.5 million copies worldwide.[1] The third album Liberation Transmission has been certified gold in Britain. The band has achieved one number-one on the UK Albums Chart albums (Liberation Transmission), one number one single on the Modern Rock Tracks charts ("Last Train Home"). Lostprophets has also won a NME award for Best Metal Group in 2002.[2]
