Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 is an association football video game in the Pro Evolution Soccer series by Konami. It is the 8th Game in the Pro Evolution Soccer Series.

Pro Evolution Soccer creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka has revealed that he's gone back to the drawing board for PES 2009 following the criticism of the 2008 edition on PS3. Seabass hasn't been content to rest on his laurels and had begun work on PES 2009 shortly after the release of the 2008 edition, where he promises a 'complete overhaul' of the game in absolutely every respect.

Release

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 had been confirmed for release on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, and Xbox 360 in the third-quarter of 2008.[1]

Become a Legend

This is a new game mode in the PES series. In this the player gets to create a midfielder or a striker to control throughout his career, and catching the eye of other clubs to move higher up the league chain. Unlike FIFA's Be A Pro Mode, which has a time limit of 4 seasons, PES2009's version has an infinite number of seasons, a watered down version of this was seen in the PS2 version of J-League, a version of PES only released in Japan.

Teams

So far, the only national teams that have been confirmed to be licensed are Argentina and Brazil, although most nations from previous games are expected to return.[3] Manchester United and Liverpool FC are the only licensed clubs in the Premier League. Apart from that the teams are same as Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

Licensed leagues

The Spanish league is still in PES2009, however due to a change in the Spanish league's sponsorship, the game will lack the logo of the league, but the teams in the Spanish league will all be licensed.

[4] On July 23, 2008 there was a huge leak of information posted by Pro Evo Live League UK The leak had information about the gameplay, game modes, graphics, teams, stadiums, players, and online play. One huge part of the leak was there is going to be a "Become A Legend" mode. This mode is like the "Be A Pro" mode in FIFA 08.
