Comments on WP:BEDS

Hi, I've just come back from a wikibreak (for my own sanity), so apologies for not replying to your comments on WP:BEDS talk page sooner. Unfortunately there is probably less than a handful of us who are active in the project at the mo, so I'm afraid it's a case of us buckling down and getting on with it until we get more members. But not to get too disheartened, if a small village in Somerset with less than 100 residents can get to FA status, then there's no reason why we can't get Bedfordshire, Luton or Bedford to at least GA status. As well as looking up info for the Bedford, Kempston and Wootton articles, I am working on completing infobox data on the civil parishes in Bedfordshire pages.

In the meantime what do you think about proposing the following;

• A new template to replace Template:Places in Bedfordshire. Now that most of the settlements in Bedfordshire have their own article, the template looks a little crowded and takes up a lot of page space. Maybe something like this?
• Revamping Template:WikiProject Bedfordshire so that, like most of the other counties WPs, it just has the class and importance of the article. Not all articles require an infobox, and how weeks (or months or years) has South Bedfordshire been 'Collaboration of the week'?

When you moved the article on the archaeological site Cantona and put a disambiguation page in its place, a lot of Mesoamerican articles suddenly pointed to a disambiguation page. well, well......

my! haven't you been busy! i'm highly impressed, and you are right, we must be close by now, but i reckon we can do a little more. the governance references need to be updated to reflect the elections most recent (i cannot for the life of me remember if they were a month or a year and a month ago) and we need to do a collection of images and put it onto the commons site.
Do you have any idea what happened to the town crest? i've been looking and looking but cannot find it. We need to put it by the little section you created, as well as change the photo for the economy because the town hall is not relevant and the will be likely to pick up on that. we could try and get a picture of butterfield green or capability green, which is more relevant.
i was wondering, for the geography/geology bit - would a picture of the river lea be any good? or maybe a full shot across from the top of warden hills... i dunno, i'll get back to you on that
And one last thing - referencing is good, but patchy in places - i'll start on that soon, but make sure i do the referencing right because i'm really out of practise with wikipedia.

There is still quite a bit of tidy up work but it might be sensible to aim for a peer review in about a month The town crest was removed as someone didnt like the licensing (as was the logos for a lot of ths schools) Agreed on the geography geology part. There is a nice picture on the Dunstable downs bit which illutrates the general area. The River Lea is a bit non-descript in the town really, mainly culverted or in tunnels. Referencing needs some big improvements, i have started to use the cite web command but more to be done. There needs to be some more refereneces. I guess we shouldnt have any paragraphs without a reference. Economy, again the town hall isnt a great image for that, Capability green would be a good idea maybe. The last local elections were in May 2007. Other photos i would suggest we need are St Georges Square, probably taken from outside the library looking towards the town hall. We could do with a Mall photo although maybe just for the andale article. A shot of bury park. One or two of some of the older buildings in and around guildford street

The Mall definately, and I reckon it might be better to do St Georges square towards the Galaxy centre instead and the maybe do a bit on that in culture, because it is one of the central focal points in the town.

I've also been looking at the article itself - we may want to bulk up a few lines or combine them together, because glancing over the article, there are points where it looks a little bare and that doesnt look great. I can do that because that shouldn't be too strenuous on a out of practise wikipedian.

I've been using Sheffield as a good reference, because thats a featured article but its also a manageble size to overview.

Something i have been wondering about especially is the amount of seperate articles we have. I reckon this is just a little too confusing and we probably should combine them onto one page, like culture in luton etc. Obviously keep luton airport and stuff like that seperate, but wardown park, museums etc should really be together. Thats my thinking on that

I dont care whether people are black white asian or green, they have to be notable to be listed as a Notable person. The person keeps getting deleted because he is not notable. Where is the Wiki Page to show he is notable? Once the person has a page set up which is referenced to third party evidence that they are notable then add him to Luton. Just put of interest are you Abdul Ahad?

Please refrain from insulting people on Wikipedia.

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Bank deposit guarantee

Only problem is that there were lots of initially innaccurate reporting. As the day has gone on the position has been clarified. There is not an unlimited guarantee in place in Germany.
