Good for the Gujarat Government. They need more like this to make people forget the alleged human rights violations. Josephamathew (talk) 06:09, 23 September 2008 (UTC) josephamathew, 23 September,2008[reply]

"brings down the government" of Ukraine?

The wording seems misleadingly strong, esp. for those who are not used to using "government" in that sense. How about "governing coalition"? Homunq (talk) 18:26, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pacific / Oceania

Being in New Zealand, I note that we in Australia, New Zealand, Oceania or the Pacific don't even rate a mention in Current Events (as we aren't actually in Asia) Hugo999 (talk) 07:33, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There used to be a "Current events in Oceania" subpage of current events (and before May 2006 a "Current events in Australia and New Zealand"), but no one but me was maintaining it regularly and I gave up in January 2007.-gadfium 09:08, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

School shooting in finland

Is it 10 or 11 dead after the shooting? There are two different counts in here and the main article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.108.241.21 (talk) 20:28, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recent changes to format of current events page

I see that we now get the Wikinews page for each day in addition to the current events. I have to say I'm not crazy about that. What passes for news there doesn't seem to be up to the same standard as the current events page itself. Also, it looks like updates to the current events page take several minutes to show up. Is this a change in cache update policy, moderation, or perhaps a magic change in my own browser? SkyDot (talk) 18:49, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I vote take wikinews feed off. MPS (talk) 14:27, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Eleven students die..."

Wrong, it's ten students (incl. the shooter) and one teacher. Can you fix this? ---Majestic- (talk) 16:56, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error on Main Page News Section

There's a grammatical error in the top headline: "CNSA Astronaut Zhai Zhigang successfully perform a spacewalk during the Chinese space mission Shenzhou 7"; "perform" should be "performs." --Anthony5429 (talk) 21:47, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Austrian election

The Austrian legislative election, 2008, following 18 months of political deadlock after a "grand coalition" failed, has concluded with the major parties both losing votes and seats to the two far right parties, which have won a combined total of about 29% of the vote. [1] [2] Probably should rate a mention as this may well result in a reimposition of sanctions against the country by the EU. Why is Current_Events different from Current_events

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Current_Events seems to stop at Oct 1st and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Current_events works correctly 99.245.51.155 (talk) 02:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Train accident leads to resignation of traffic minister in Hungary; perhaps worth a mention among current events. 2008 Monorierdő train collisionAlensha talk 22:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inactive Regional News section

Many of the Regional news page are inactive and haven't had any news for the past year, except for links to Wikinews (Africa, China, Europe, Israel, Latin America, Middle East, Poland, Asia, United Kingdom and United States). Since Wikipedia is not Wikinews, shouldn't they be deleted? Eklipse (talk) 09:50, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bad wording

"The United States Environmental Protection Agency sets a new standard cutting the amount of lead in the atmosphere by 90 percent."

That implies that merely by setting a standard, they've magically cut the amount of lead in the atmosphere. Somehow, I doubt it. --202.6.116.165 (talk) 21:54, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
