Tan Hong Zhi

Why did you remove the reference to this man? He is prominent and he is of this clan.

BTW. Please insert the source(s) for your section about the origins of the surname. Is it In Search of Your Asian Roots: Genealogical Research on Chinese Surnames by Sheau-yueh J Chao, published by Clearfield Co, Baltimore 2000? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.55.158.187 (talkcontribs) 2007-03-19 21:25:09 (UTC)

"Tan" is also 陈/陳, use by many chinese in SE Asia. In this case Tan is the pronounciation/spelling of 陈/陳 in Hokkien/TeoChew dialect. So when someone tell you he is Tan, do not assume right away that he is 谭/譚.Wiki Pokemon 20:50, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please have this added. Many chinese in South China and South east Asia has the surname Tan which is 陈。 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paganfarmer (talkcontribs) 13:46, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone needs to verify, but I believe the Chinese-American actress Lauren Tom should be included in the list of prominent people here. --38.117.185.138 (talk) 21:57, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
