Ryan Thomas (born 10 June 1984 in Manchester, Greater Manchester, England, UK) is an English actor who is currently starring as Jason Grimshaw on ITV's Coronation Street.
Career
Since the departure of his girlfriend Tina O'Brien from Coronation Street, Ryan's future in the show has been in doubt. Rumours that Jason Grimshaw would be axed from the show have so far appeared unfounded. However, Ryan admitted he would find it tough to be on set without her.[1]
Ryan has been nominated for various "Sexiest Male"-type awards[2] He also won the award for Rear of the Year in 2008.
Personal Life
He has twin younger brothers, Scott and Adam Thomas. Adam is currently starring as Donte Charles in BBC One drama series, Waterloo Road. Scott appeared with Ryan on ITV1's All Star Family Fortunes in October 2008. He and his brother adam attended The Kingsway School in Stockport. Scott attended a different secondary school.
In 2005 he was snapped by The Sun driving without a licence.[3] He was also involved in a brawl at his 21st Birthday.[4]
He has been dating co-star Tina O'Brien (Sarah Grimshaw) since 2004. On 5 April 2008, Tina and Ryan announced that they are expecting their first child together.[5] On 26 October 2008, O'Brien gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter named Scarlett Jacqueline Thomas, at Manchester General Hospital. The baby was born at 8:22am, weighing 7lbs 1oz.[6]
Despite playing bitter enemies on-screen, he is actually good friends with Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt).[7]
