"Down" is the American-debut single by British-Asian R&B artist Jay Sean, from his American-debut album My Own Way (U.S. edition). The single features American rapper and label mate Lil Wayne and was officially released on iTunes on June 30 2009, but began to be played on radio stations across the U.S. from May 31, 2009.[1]

History

On October 15, 2008 at the MOBO Awards, Jay Sean announced that he had signed with the American Hip-Hop record label Cash Money Records. Jay explained “It’s always been a dream for me to sign to an American label. And it’s great to be accepted by the best in the game.” [2]

Jay Sean moves into the iTunes USA Top 40 and continues to climb the US charts with his latest single, "Down" featuring US rap star Lil Wayne. With massive radio coverage across the country, from such super stations as Power 106 Los Angeles, B96 in Chicago, 92.3 NYC, Jamn '94 in Boston. The track (which was the #1 most added track to US rhythmic radio on its debut) has climbed to #28 in the US national airplay charts, and is set to continue higher. With the video to debut shortly and the track receiving a featured spot on the MySpace USA music page, has seen the the track getting 50,000+ plays a day off his personal MySpace profile page. Music video

The music video was produced alongside the video for "Written On Her".

The video was first shot in London, Buckinghamshire on 24th April 2009 with Cash Money crew without Lil Wayne, the video was shot over two days. The Buckinghamshire mansion featured is Hedsor House, an enormous private mansion and park where Mark Ronson hosted his 33rd birthday and the place where The Golden Compass was filmed.[4] The video was finally completed in Miami, with Jay heading to the U.S. to finish the video with Lil Wayne on 30th April 2009. The video is due to premiere in July 2009 on MTV worldwide to coincide with the physical release of the single.[5][6]
