Gibraltar

Hi Spangineer. I'm spending a lot of time and even money to explain what's going on (see Talk:Disputed status of Gibraltar. I expect a strong position on how Gibraltarian must play from now on. I do know that he won't provide any source but the usual crap of qualifying me as a troll, fascist and so on, but as long as I'm playing by the very wikipedia rules, I'm expecting some "protection" from the administrators. I've seen that your Request for Comments has gone nowhere, so that I'm just waiting your instructions on how to proceed (arbitration, for instance?). Best regards --Ecemaml 13:22, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Spangineer for your help. I'll begin to gather all the information I need to start the request for arbitration. I'll keep you informed :-) --Ecemaml 08:53, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Spangineer. I'm finishing my request for arbitration. I'm planning to post it by tomorrow. Best regards --Ecemaml 20:14, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Spangineer. It's done now :-) . I've just put the request in Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Gibraltarian. Any help or opinion will be indeed welcome. --Ecemaml 07:19, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Celine Dion

Hi. Ive been trying to improve on the Céline Dion article, incorporating many of your suggestions. Could you take a look (please) and maybe offer advice and comments on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Céline Dion? Thanks in advance. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 04:29, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed states of Gibraltar

Gibraltarian is requesting unprotection (again). What do you think? I'm not unprotecting it until you say so. If you don't feel like it's ready, we'll keep it protected. Gibraltarian used the *Exact* same language he did last time when he requested unprotection. That bugs me a little. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 16:48, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you are no longer mediating this dispute. I would still like your opinion as to whether it should be unprotected since you are more involved in it than anyone else. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 17:22, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Don't sweat it man. I'm an admin remember? :-) Been there many times. I just went through a 2 month period where I had 2 arbcoms back to back. One finished...and then the moron that got me into the 2nd one came back from a 6 month suspension. So I understand ya. Well keep an eye on it. Yeah usually people play more nicely when they are in arbcom. Usually. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 20:21, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Neptune - peer review

Can you look over the article and tell me if your concerns have been met? Thanks. Pentawing 02:41, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks, that is exactly what I need to know. I combined the two sections (after another look, I certainly agree that the two sections are essentially the same thing. I have no idea why the two sections were separate in the first place) and linked the terms in the table headings to sub-articles. Though you said that you are not an expert in astronomy, what you told me indicates that you are experienced with making articles as clear as possible. In that case, if possible, I would appreciate your helping me out with these problems (given that no one else is willing nor able to work on this article). Pentawing 04:01, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I read your comments on peer review and would suggest that you talk to Evil Monkey about your concerns (I've already requested his assistance with the article). As for the table, it seems to be similar to all other planetary articles. Pentawing 23:01, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've left some comments on the peer review page. As for the retrograde link, what you changed it to is correct. It has little to do with prograde and retrograde orbital motion. Evil Monkey - Hello 23:37, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the sources

For your hard work on retrieving sources and providing me with such help, I, User:Journalist, award Spangineer the Barnstar of Diligence. Thank you very much. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 06:00, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, Ill be needing those sources. However, I wont be able to work on the article until the middle of next week→ work and school are tedious. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 03:26, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Gibraltarian again

Hi, Spangineer. Gibraltarian, now anonymously (212.120.229.182) has removed again the {{disputed}} template from both History of Gibraltar and Disputed status of Gibraltar. I don't want to enter again in an edit war so this this message is just for your information. Best regards --Ecemaml 17:02, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Mariah Carey

I noticed that on Talk:Céline Dion, you collected quotes from reviews of Dion's work from ProQuest and left a list of them on the talk page. I was wondering if you could do the same for Mariah Carey? It would be extremely helpful to the article, as currently it relies a little too much on reviews from the website All Music Guide. Searching on ProQuest has been recommended to me before (see Wikipedia:Peer review/Robert Clark (actor)) for finding print references, but since I don't live in the United States, I don't have access to it. I will be eternally grateful if you could do this! Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 19:18, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! The quotes you found will help improve the article, as well as the relevant album and single articles. Thank you once again! If you need any help with anything, just ask me on my talk page. Thanks! Extraordinary Machine 18:47, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Heyyy, wats up? Me again. I was wondering if you had the links or any other sources for the quotes you put on the Celine Dion talk page. I think that I will work on the article (Sunday maybe?), and the sources/links would help a bunch. Thanks in advance. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 21:12, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article electroslag welding, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Wikiproject

I notice you're a fairly active on Mexico-related articles. I don't know if you know anything about Mexican-American topics, but some of us are putting together a Wikiproject and you might want to check it out. You can see the discussion on my userpage.--Rockero420 16:46, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Featured article

After some editing Portugal from the Restoration to the 1755 Earthquake (now moved to History of Portugal (1578-1777) as considerably improved. If you want go there and vote. Thanks. Gameiro 22:45, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's a great image you added to electroslag welding. I know they take awhile to draw up, but do you accept image requests for other welding methods?

Hi, thanks for the compliment. Yes, I accept requests and will try to do one for GTAW. By the way, I really don't know that much about welding and created the image as best I could from reading about it. So if you can imrove it, go for it (or send suggestions). The working .svg file is at [1], I made it with Inkscape.--Duk 00:20, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the electroslag image is fixed (I think) and there is a new image at GTAW. Let me know if you see any mistakes. --Duk 09:00, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thanks for the barnstar. I think the spelling mistakes are fixed now :) --Duk 21:04, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for calculating the accuracy of my article count study. I've incorporated your chart into my subpage (it hasn't been updated to the wikipediaology page, at least not yet). I added some other new info as well. -R. fiend 19:15, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Change of vote?

I've completed most of the requests in your post for the Dinosaur FAC. Is this criteria for a change of vote? Maybe a neutral vote? It would be greatly appreciated, as I would not want to see it fail a second time after all the work I've done... Thanks, Spawn Man 01:16, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

GTAW

Hello Spangineer,

That article is pretty good! I made a couple minor changes and added a section on just why GTAW is so hard. The article does lack significantly in one place and I'm not quite sure where this would be worked in: the "cleaning action" required for good quality aluminum welds. I see some light details on this process but to me it is one of the most fascinating aspects of GTAW. There is mention that the gas ions only travel towards the negative electrode but no mention that the oxides are removed when the gas ions physically smack into them. A good GTAW machine will support waveform shaping on AC which lets the operator dial in the amount of time spent in the DCEN and DCEP phase, striking a balance between cleaning action and penetration. I'd work that all in there myself but I don't want to destroy the flow and great prose of the article. Let me know if you have any other questions. Triddle 00:56, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The waveform shaping is in addition to the square-wave output of the machine. The shaping (called balance/dig on our Miller machines (lower left control) lets you actually set the time spent in each part of the AC cycle. A balanced wave spends equal time at the + and - sections; the unbalanced wave would spend more or less time in the + side, for instance. This is how you choose between greater cleaning action or greater penetration during welding. As for pulsed and dabber - absolutely add it in. I've never heard of dabber so now you've got my curiosity. One more comment: an instructor at my school used to TIG up nuclear power reactor parts (I'm going to guess it was the high pressure system parts, but don't quote me on that). Each weld was x-rayed for quality and the only thing that could possibly do it with out inclusions or other garbage was TIG. It sure impressed us as its a great example of why the process is required. Triddle 01:41, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have written an article on Barry Wood (cricketer). If, as appears likely, the current article on Barry Wood is deleted, I would like to move the article on the cricketer to the Barry Wood namespace as most of the links are for him anyway. Capitalistroadster 10:06, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
