Pakistan Portal - Archives

W'sallam,

I have added the archive you requested for the Portal:Pakistan to the featured articles every week. Do check it.

Articles/images about Pakistan

W'sallam,

I think its best to focus on articles and images related to Pakistan as the Portal is for Pakistan. There are Protals for Islam, Asia and technology, where you can read up about those topics. This portal was created for articles and images about Pakistan onlu.

I think we should keep the images and articles on a week basis that way it allows time for people to read it, by changing it everyday is too much....we need to give the readers a bit of time and a week is enough no more no less. Fast track 17 March 2006

Changes to Portal:Pakistan

I have made the following changed to the Portal:Pakistan

  • Removed the "Categories" and "Wikiprojects" boxes, as requested and replaced it with the "This Week back in history" box, which i hope is reguarly updated. Otherwise, I will change it to another box as the portal should be continually updated.
  • The "Archives" are corrected, as we have just started this portal from srtach, we dont have much of a history to fill in. The Archives are meant to remain on the Portal page, check other Portals they have the same format. I would like article and images to be as varied as possible so we can represent many parts of PAkistan...
  • I think the notice board for pakistan related topics needs to be formated as it has been left for so long without much use. The noticeboard needs to be reader friendly so it is easy to join the community. For ideas check some of the other noticeboards from the list of noticeboards.
  • I am going to change the image and feature article on Friday so let me know of some ideas as soon as possbile? The feature article and image for week one are already into the archives as WEEK ONE.

The Wiki Pakistan Community

Hi Taqi Haider,

Firstly, just like to say your doing a good job creating alot of awareness of Pakistan through all these articles, especially your work on the main Pakistan community page article, which im hoping we can all promote.

The Pakistani community for sometime has been very dormant, as there were not many people here to write articles related to Pakistan. I think alot of us should asign tasks and work more as a community than individually. Here's the link;

Wikipedia:Notice board for Pakistan-related topics. Do take a look at all the other communities the way they are working to improve articles and promote their communities.

I think its about time we all do the same. As you may notice everthing is just been laid out, so now its our turn to fill the gaps. Do pass the word on to other Pakistanis and people working on Pakistani articles.

Tagging of Uncertain Set Theory

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Uncertain Set Theory. I do not think that Uncertain Set Theory fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because it doesn't appear to be a hoax. There may well be other problems with this stub and the many others generated by the same author, and I intend to watch them.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Uncertain Set Theory for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. Putting on my AGF halo, I would call it a bit of crystal balling. Premature advertisement might be a less charitable phrase. He has generated quite a sub-culture of articles, complete with its own Category:Uncertainty theory. The last word has not been spoken. Favonian (talk) 17:10, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I think all the articles in the category need are not needed, just one article with the basic definition of all the theories would suffice(seeing that all the articles only contain the basic definition, individual pages for each thoery with only two lines simply do not qualify as articles, therefore they should be deleted.Taqi Haider (talk) 17:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. A hangon tag was added by the original author - but an admin still needs to review. The possibility of speedy deletion is not over until the CSD tag is removed from the page completely (and the hangon tag). Can I suggest you close your AFD pending the admin review of the speedy. Thanks for blanking the AFD nomination. However just a few housekeeping notes - per WP:DPR#AFD we can't simply blank it but need to close it out. In this case I have closed the AFD as "nominator withdrew". We also then need to remove the AFD tags from the article page. I have done that for both pages in this case.   • Thanks for looking into the articles Ged, the page in question was written in Urdu, however no such article exists on the Urdu Wikipedia. I am not sure where it would exist but that is no longer important because the article was moved to creators sandbox. The for letting me know about my mistakes.

Calvisius

I think you have confused the purpose of Calvisius, a developing article on ancient Roman prosopography, with Calvisius (disambiguation), which straightforwardly disambiguates the Roman gens name from the 16th-century German music theorist Sethus Calvisius.
