British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has confirmed that the United Kingdom will participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, to be held in Oslo, Norway in May.

Internal selection or national final?

Internal selection

On 24 November 2009, British and Irish media reported that the BBC were in talks with Blue singer Duncan James and Take That singer Gary Barlow for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 entry for the United Kingdom. Barlow is named as a composer while James might perform the song in Oslo. It would be the first time ever for the UK that both song and performer are chosen internally.[2]

National final

Jayne Collins Casting, the company which was responsible for the auditions for Eurovision: Your Country Needs You selection in 2009, has again called for singers to contact them for taking part at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 auditions on Twitter. The casting company also tweeted that a new songwriter will be responsible for writing the UK's entry for Oslo as Andrew Lloyd Webber was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October.[3][4] According to reports, the UK's entry will be decided by a national final, most likely to be Eurovision: Your Country Needs You. It is not known at this time if Graham Norton will host again.

At Eurovision

As a member of the "Big Four", the United Kingdom automatically qualify to the final on 29 May 2010.
