Granville Community School is a comprehensive school on Burton Road (A511) in Woodville, Derbyshire maintained by the Derbyshire County Council.[1]
History
Granville received specialised Sports College status in January 2008.[citation needed] The county council is looking at a possible merger between the school and the William Allitt School.[2]
The school is near the very busy A512 road, which has been the scene of accidents some involving pupils.[3] The traffic has increased since the Ashby-de-la-Zouch bypass opened in March 2002.
The new headteacher (from September 2009) is Sylvia Thomas replacing Mr Barrie Scott who left the school in Summer 2009.[4]).
Partner schools
Most of the school's students come from Belmont, Eureka, Hartshorne, Springfield, St. Peter’s Netherseal and Woodville,[5] primary schools but also accepts some children from Leicestershire into its 830 available places.[6]
Houses
The school has three houses: Chatsworth, Haddon, Kedlestongay.
Academic performance
The school gets average results for Derbyshire at GCSE, reaching the highest results in the region.[7]
