Rafael Souza Anjos (born October 26, 1984) is a Brazilian professional mixed martial arts fighter. dos Anjos is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima and with Evolve Mixed Martial Arts in Brazil and Singapore.[1] He is also well-versed in Muay Thai under the tutelage of the legendary Sityodtong Team at Evolve MMA under Kru Toy Sityodtong, Kru Chatri Sityodtong, Kru Nuengpichit Sityodtong, and Kru Yoddecha Sityodtong.[2]

MMA Career

UFC Career

He made his UFC debut at UFC 91, losing to lightweight contender, Jeremy Stephens. The fight was stopped in the third round after a vicious uppercut knocked out dos Anjos. The knock out won the knockout of the night bonus.

After suffering defeat to Stephens, dos Anjos was given Tyson Griffin at UFC Fight Night 18. The fight was a back and forth battle that showed heart and technique from both fighters. The fight was awarded fight of the night.

He was scheduled to fight Matt Wiman on September 19, 2009 at UFC 103, but due to a knee injury suffered by Wiman, he instead faced Rob Emerson.[3]. Dos Anjos got the much-needed win by unanimous decision.

dos Anjos then defeated Kyle Bradley via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 20.[4]

At UFC 112, dos Anjos defeated Terry Etim via second round submission, earning him Submission of the Night honors.[5]

Personal life

Rafael has a son named Rafael who was born two weeks after his fight at UFC 91.[6]
