Semi-protection

In response to VRTS ticket # 2008022810019811, I have reverted a lot of POV and vandalism to this article, and semi-protected it from editing by anonymous contributors and newly-registered accounts for a period of one month. - Mark 04:40, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Education: "PK to 12"

Must be a local thing, it would be nice if someone from the area could explain what "PK" means. I've never heard of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DigiFluid (talkcontribs) 22:53, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PK = prekinder, which is also "taught" in public schools in Laredo.

Snow Monkey Population?

The Snow Monkey page says there is a wild population that was introduced in 1972...true?Mwv2 (talk) 05:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

to be honest with you, I had no idea what you were talking about nor have i seen one near Laredo, so I did some research, it appears to be true some rancher adopted 150 snow monkeys and brought them near Laredo back in 1972 to some research center (the good type) from which they escaped.

Crime

why is there no mention of the rife crime in the city? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.109.214.90 (talk) 02:47, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Laredo does have crime as well any other city in the world. Laredo's crime rate is about average for a city in the U.S. except for non-serious crimes such as thefts and burglaries which is above average. I haven't seen a perfect city nor a city's article including crime rates and there is nothing worth mentioning or in the article about crime. -AMAPO (talk) 04:02, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To point out, it has been said that texas rangers do not go to Laredo because of the massive MS13 presence. I think it is worth looking into.

too many photos

many of which don't show up correctly. i don't need to see strip malls or parking lots everywhere, that doesn't make laredo interesting or unique Lequis (talk) 03:25, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite

I have added a rewrite tag to the top of the article. A read-through of the article will show that it contains numerous problems per Wikipedia's policies. Several images that I have already removed do not inform or highlight the information contained in the text where they are located. I have removed some and hope others can add new photos that better inform the reader of the information presented in the article. Also, it is important to note that the image text needs to be succinct, simply describing the picture without talking about its history or location. This information is best left for separate pages on the image's subject. Lastly, image description text size should be left to default; there is no reason to double the size.

The article itself reads like a travel brochure, giving the street location, history and description of everything mentioned in the article. As an example, the sports section has separate paragraphs for each of the stadiums and teams in Laredo, each giving detailed information about the individual subjects. Two paragraphs in this section would suffice, with one listing the sports teams and the other listing the stadiums. Information on each one should be placed in separate articles on each team and subject. This problem is present in most of the the sections in the article. As a point of reference, the economy section is fairly well-constructed. -Helmandsare (talk) 03:08, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
