Welcome to my user talk page!

Please do all of the following:
  • Always link to the text, image, or edit you want to discuss. When linking to an image, use a colon. For example, "[[:Image:Example.jpg]]" produces "Image:Example.jpg".
  • Don't forget to provide a proper Edit Summary for each and every edit, and a proper signature for each and every post to a talk page or notice board. I may revert edits that do not have such features, rather than respond to them.
  • Reply to interactive messages at the location of the original topic to not scatter talk all around, fracturing the discussion. I do have nearly all pages I have posted to recently on my Watchlist. If I missed a comment, please use {{Talkback}} to drop me a short reminder with a link here.
  • Respect my babel boxes. Write in English. I'm also able to communicate in Spanish a bit, but with that language I can't give a guarantee that I will really comprehend the meaning of your message.
  • If you're copying files from any project to Commons, be sure to use the CommonsHelper.
  • If you're copying pics from Flickr, be sure to use Flinfo, the easy way to upload pics from Flickr.
  • If your text or image is lacking source, license, or permission, fix that instead of asking here what is wrong. There should be a message on your talk page explaining things in detail. Apologies for having to be so clear if this message is not related to the matter you would like to address.
  • Post here if you want to reach me, or reply to a post below via the edit link above that post.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Actually I was the one REMOVING unsourced information, which was reverted by a bot, and then reverted again by a bot that does nothing but enforce other bots edits. If wikipedia is really so hostile to editors trying to make improvements and respect core policies than I'm not sure what the point is. 131.107.65.118 (talk) 18:33, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not in this edit.   — Jeff G.  ツ 18:36, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Are you serious? That page has almost no citations, which should be fixed, but out of everything you arbitarily decide that saying "as opposed to oval tracks and off-road racing" instead of "as opposed to off-road racing" needs to be reverted? If you want to discuss content, take it to the talk page, as this is basically the definition of the term. But to single out and revert that as "dubious unsourced content" is not constructive. 131.107.65.118 (talk) 18:43, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Did you even read the page? Furhter down it says "the term road course often is used as a catch-all phrase for any racetrack that is not an oval". I don't know what your agenda is, but randomly reverting edits and putting warnings on talk pages is not constructive. 131.107.65.118 (talk) 01:07, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RFC: Talk:Cara Russell

I would like to ask you to comment here:

Talk:Cara Russell

Thanks. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 07:00, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

 Done, but I'm not sure you're going to like my comment.   — Jeff G.  ツ 18:52, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you surprised me. I thought that the Sky Ark article could stay because, while it was probably added by Mickey and/or Cara Russell, it was 1) an non-profit; and 2) it was about the animals, for a greater good than, putting them first. But, the Cara Russell was probably added by Mickey and/or Cara Russell and was done so because she was running for office. The only references are the local county rags. Do you know how hard it is to say out of the local county rag? You would have had to never live there or know anybody who had. My cousin was in the county paper ever time he won a ribbon in cattle judging or grass judging for 4-H. My other cousin gets in their now every time they talk about grading a county road. BFD! Do you know how many First Amendment cases are filed each year in the U.S.? Hundreds, most never make it out of local court. Between five and 12 make it to the U.S. Supreme Court in D.C. each session (and take between five and ten years to get there). If this case was in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, etc., I would feel differently. This is just another small-time person in a small town that was dismissed and filed a lawsuit, happens all the time, and 99% is nowhere down the road in a few years. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 21:08, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any evidence that those alleged "local county rags" are not reliable per WP:RS?   — Jeff G.  ツ 21:15, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am not saying that they are not reliable, I am saying that they are not notable. They maybe 100% accurate in every detail and if this was the Chaffee County Wikipedia (http://chaffeecounty.wikipedia.com/ or http://wikipedia.chaffeecounty.com/) it would be notable. But, Wikipedia is supposed to be bigger and more notable than that. It would be like putting every single homicide case in here. I just went to Google News and did a search for "Cara Russell" "Buena Vista" mayor, and while there are 70 articles, they are all from either the Chaffee County Times & Mountain Mail Newspaper, so every time there was a sneeze in the story, they ran an update. But none from the national papers or even the Denver Post or Rocky Mountain News. At least Sky Ark made the Rocky Mountain News - (Feb 9, 2004); New York Daily News - (Jun 21, 2003); Dallas Morning News - (Jun 23, 2003); Newsday - (Dec 2, 2003). That is more than we can say about the mayor and her little problems. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 21:34, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Korean War Veterans Memorial

Would you consider reverting the addition of that non-free image you added to Korean War Veterans Memorial, and joining the discussion I started here? Carcharoth (talk) 22:45, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notice, I commented there.   — Jeff G.  ツ 23:48, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:RPP

Hi, about half an hour, you made a revert on UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko. The page is now suffering badly through vandalism. I've filed a request at RPP, but as usual, no admin is there to answer. Since you;re still active atm, could you please make an evaluation and protect the page please. Cheers. Paralympiakos (talk) 01:29, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I would if I could at WP:RFPP, but I'm not an administrator yet.   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:31, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My bad. I've seen your name around a lot and presumed you were an admin. Paralympiakos (talk) 01:32, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if it seems like badgering, but when do you think you'll be standing for adminship? You'd easily get a co-nom from me, or at the very least, a support. Paralympiakos (talk) 01:49, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for asking! I would appreciate it if you would take a look at User:Jeff G./Admin coaching, User:Jeff G./Coaching, and their talk pages. Thanks again!   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:51, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Final comment (I know how aggravating multiple orange banners can be): I've had a look at those. Not sure what to include to a talk page, but I'll be keeping my eye out at RFA anyway. Good luck with any future campaign! Paralympiakos (talk) 02:01, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any input would be appreciated, even via wikimail. Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:02, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Micronations

Yeah, I did. I run the micronation Safiria, and I need someone to design a website, do graphics design, and generally be Prime Minister (semipresidential). CJ Miller. (That's my name.Don't wear it out.) 02:34, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I left you a message on your Wikia wiki.   — Jeff G.  ツ 04:41, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahem....

Please explain how these edits constituite vandalism. And don't crack it at me for picking you up on it. It's not nice to bite newcomers just because they don't know how things are done propery like you and me. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 02:30, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The user has 358 edits to the English and Spanish Wikipedias, and has been editing for over a week. Shabidoo asked him to provide references at 02:47 on 28 July 2010 (UTC). Analyzing his actions today from his user talk page: first he blanked Mathías Cabrera; second he removed content in this edit without explanation; third he added unsourced content to a BLP in this edit; fourth he added more unsourced content to a BLP in this edit; finally he deleted a dated prod blp template in this edit. All of those actions are unacceptable without explanations.   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:46, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But still, it's not vandalism. Their actions to me don't look like a deliberate attempt to screw the encyclopedia. Cut newbies some slack, ok? :) Poke them in the right direction. Don't just say YOURE DOING IT WRONG, but explain why they're wrong, and not with lots of links like WP:VAND, WP:POL, WP:V, WP:NPOV, and so on. We're used to it, but to a newcomer that just looks like nonsense. :) Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 02:54, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I thought Shabidoo had already done that a week ago. How long does a user stay a newbie?   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:55, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Until their editing improves. If they're truely a vandal, it will become evident that they're here only to cause trouble. Otherwise their editing will improve eventually. 03:00, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
OK, so do you consider this edit vandalism?   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:02, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not after seeing the revision after it. It became evident that they wanted the page deleted after, but not at the time I undid their edit. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 03:06, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

i created my first article today listing the profile and productions of my company. i'm new to this so bear with me. i did not do this to promote or sell any product. we are one of the oldest production companies in vancouver and there is a historical point to our entry. in fact, none of our programs are even available for sale.

how can i rectify the perception that this article is meant to promote a product.

thank you in advance,

walter daroshin

Please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and WP:COI. You shouldn't be creating or editing articles related to you due to a conflict of interest. elektrikSHOOS 03:26, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The best place to start is to look for reliable sources, such as newspapers, that mention your company in a significant way. It's pretty easy for anyone to say that they/their company is important, but unless other people think so as well, then its not really something we can add on Wikipedia. Also, it's not generally allowable for you to edit an article that is about you, or who you work for, but it's perfectly fine to make suggestions on the talk page and allow other editors to make the changes. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 03:29, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Both of the above replies are right. Also, any article on your company will need verifiable references from reliable sources.   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:31, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ed Martin talk page

I had accidentally attached a hang on to the talk page instead of main page and was given a message to deleate it. I went on and did that as I was asked. there was no other information on the talk page. I'm not sure how I can "restore" it when i was asked to delete it? -Raszoo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Raszoo (talkcontribs) 18:06, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it for you in these edits. You can "restore" using the "undo" feature accessed from the "page history".   — Jeff G.  ツ 18:11, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honda NSR125

You claim my editing to be dubious as I was the originally writer of the article, you revert back to incorrect details, I have built an NSR125 from scratch, currently own 2 on top of other bikes, have de-restricted 10 plus nsr's and I am a qualified mechanical engineer.

I, along with a friend have compilied much information regarding these bikes over the years as they are one of the few which so many regional differences in one continent and would appreciate if you claim my editing to be dubious you at least put correct information.

RE: Georgia

RE: this, I have since added a reference in support of the content. Yet, it is ironic that you reverted to a version that was even more dubious and also unsourced, not to mention inaccurate, redundant (with the country's location being expanded upon in the next sentence), and not derived through consensus (as it was added by someone in Georgia who clearly has an opinion on the country's inclusion in Europe above all). Perhaps you should be more discriminating in what you blindly revert to, or don't bother. 76.68.80.199 (talk) 02:13, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
