Redirect request: NROM
![]() |
---|
Target of redirect: Spansion#Mergers_and_Acquisitions Reason: I previously submitted this request, but the person reviewing it declined it for some reason. According to this page Wikipedia:Redirect#Purposes_of_redirects the following is a perfectly good reason to have a redirect.
Maybe I was not clear in my original redirect request and did not list the specific section in Spansion that covers the NROM statement. NROM is not covered anywhere else in Wikipedia and there is not a lot of demand to give it its own article or work on it at the moment. If there is a better way to connect this NROM piece in the Spansion article to NROM please leave that note in the remarks so I can pursue that avenue. Redirect request: HarDCore
Target of redirect: Washington, D.C. hardcore
Reason: HarDCore is a standard and widely used portmanteau term associated with the Washington D.C. punk scene dating back to the mid 1980s to the present day.
It is a common term for the entire localized genre / regional school of DC-area hardcore punk,
and (when capitalized as such) is specific in its application / context.
Sometimes spelled as "harDCore" (which defaults to HarDCore, so that is the redirect).
Compare sXe (which defaults to SXe) for a similar existing redirect in the same genre.
A redirect notice would be posted on the Washington, D.C. hardcore page as follows:
Source:
Andersen, Mark, and Jenkins, Mark. Dance of Days: Two Decades of Punk in the Nation's Capitol (2001). Mark Andersen is the co-founder of Positive Force DC. Mark Jenkins writes about music, film, and other topics for the Washington Post, Washington City Paper, NPR's "All Things Considered," Time Out New York, and other outlets. He lives in Washington, DC.
Note that browser search for the term "HarDCore" often requires one to use a search engine that is case-sensitive. Therefore, it is of substantial value as a search-term redirect.
This is a portmanteau term, not a creative miscapitalization, and is not WP:MADEUP.
I have not done any editing on the Washington, D.C. hardcore page but I can see it needs a lot of work, in no small part because there is no convenient redirect and few pages link to it. This redirect will make the article easier to find, for persons who are expert in the genre.
Sincerely,
--berr 216.15.63.67 (talk) 20:44, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
