Carapelle Calvisio is a comune and town in the Province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It is located in the natural park known as the "Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park" at 900 a.s.l.. It's mostly known as being one the smallest non-alpine comune in Italy, with (approx.) only 90 inhabitants. It is located in front of the historical castle Rocca Calascio, location for the notorious movie Ladyhawke. Luckily, Carapelle Calvisio's location (separated by a mountain from L'Aquila area) preserved it from serious damages in the earthquake of L'Aquila in 6 April 2009.
