He was the son of Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Abbas the Uncle of Prophet Muhammad. He was born in Humaima in Palestine. [1]. When al-Mukhtar announced the revenge of Imam al-Husayn. He showed him self as the representive of Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, the Promised Mehdi according to him. After the death of Mohammad ibn Hanifia, Imamate of Kaysanites Shia transfered to his son Abu Hashim, who transferred his Imamate to Mohammad ibn Ali Abbasi, the Grandson of the Prophet's Uncle ‘Abbas ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib. In this way, the political activities started of Mohammad ibn Ali.
