3GG is a regional adult contemporary radio station that operates in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. It was owned and operated by RG Capital before being acquired by the then newly formed Macquarie Regional RadioWorks before their sale to Resonate Broadcasters in March 2008.

The station broadcasts on 531 on the AM band. The station started in 1937, then known as 3UL, named after the town from which it broadcast, Warragul. It changed its name to 3GG on November 4, 1989 with the "GG" standing for Greater Gippsland.

While the transmitter location has always remained on Brandy Creek Road just north of Warragul, the studio location has over the years changed from Warragul to Traralgon and back to Warragul at its current location of 31 Warragul-Korumburra Rd Warragul.

History

Up until 2002, 3GG was the main radio station of the area and kept up with the modern trends in music and broadcasting flavour. With the introduction of mainstream FM stations in the area, 3GG changed its format to a more easy listening and talk radio format. The modern format moved to the FM band with the introduction of Sea FM on the frequency of 94.3 MHz broadcasting from Allambee in the hills of the Strzelecki Ranges to the South of Warragul. Sea FM and 3GG was part of the RG Capital Radio, before RG Capital sold their regional stations to Macquarie Regional RadioWorks in 2004 and Sea FM then changed to Star FM. 3SEA is still broadcasting on 94.3 MHz from its location in Allambee as well as operating a low power translator on 97.9 MHz into the Latrobe Valley from Tyers, north of Traralgon.

After many years as serving as the station's resident engineer, Greg Spencer moved into the role of General Manager in early 2008, upon the sale of 3GG from MACSC to Resonate Broadcasting.

3GG is one of the few remaining AM stations in the area to broadcast in Motorola C-QUAM AM stereo.

2005–2008 Then: Macquarie Regional RadioWorks, Now: Macquarie Southern Cross Media Resonate Broadcasting.
2008-present Resonate Broadcasting

The sale of 3GG was primarily due to the changes to federal laws relating to media ownership, and the acquisition of Southern Cross 10. Legally, MACSC had to sell off one of its broadcast licenses to comply with the federal law. It is alleged that there was an original buyer for 3GG who pulled out of the sale at the last minute, and the station was offered to Australian Radio guru's Guy Dobson & Rex Morris from Austereo at a very reduced price in order to comply with the federal law before a specified date.

The newly-formed Resonate Broadcasting also acquired another former MACSC station located in Charters Towers, Qld.
