He was in the Army?

I doubt it. The source cited for that claim is his IMDB page, which he obviously wrote himself. In the same article he claims to have met Pope John Paul II in 1979 and become a member of some Catholic secret society. The other source that talks about his Army service only says that Sharkey "claims" to have served. In my mind we should change the wording to "claims" to have served as well, because there is no neutral source showing that he did in fact serve, and frankly, I would be willing to bet that he did not. I'll change it in, say, 24 hours, if no one objects. Retserrof84 (talk) 18:52, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If we can't find a reliable source to back up the information in the article it should just come out of the article. Rewording it doesn't solve the problem. GB fan (talk) 19:19, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're the boss, I'm new around here. But the second source is from a newspaper, which I guess is a reliable source, but it only mentions that Sharkey claims to have served in the Army. To be honest, if we're going to remove all of the things Sharkey "claims" to do or have done, we are going to be left with about two sentences. I'm sure you know better than I do, though. Retserrof84 (talk) 19:30, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not the boss, I am a volunteer editor like you. That we should remove the imdb things since there are no reliable sources is just my opinion. If you or other editors feel the info still belongs I don't have a problem with it since none of it is contentious. GB fan (talk) 00:05, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Retserrof84, If you want, email me off line at jonathontheimpaler@yahoo.com, not only will I send you a copy of my VA Award letter which shows that I am rated at 100% disabled, but, how much the VA is payng me. It also shows the injuries I suffered while serving this country. I was a member of St. Hedwig's Holy Name Society in Elizabeth, NJ. They are far from secret. You providing the information to an editor is not sufficient. We need the information to come from a published independent reliable source. GB fan (talk) 23:43, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GB Fans, considering my military records are a senative Level 7, usually 8, but, since I had surgery and pending VA Claim, they lowered it to a 7, I have copies of the official documents to prove I was in the Army and what I am Service-Connected for. Plus, how much I get. I emailed the info to info@wikipedia.org Hopefully they will update my page. If you want, email me, I'll send it to you. User:ImpalerFilmsInc —Preceding undated comment added 00:14, 7 May 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Like I said above, you sending information to any editors is not enough. What we need is information that is published in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. GB fan (talk) 00:29, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GB Fan, so what you are saying is, certified Court and Government documents are NOT reliable sources. The media says wnat it wants. The AP stated in December 2009, I was sentenced to 2 years in prison. I read that while smoking a cuban cigar in Tampa. I have court documents that show kit is the judge who is now a defendant in Federal Coourt for his actions against me. I also have a letter from the IN State Police showing I have no criminal record. So, is the AP a reliable source of information? If they are, they blew that story!ImpalerFilmsInc —Preceding unsigned comment added by ImpalerFilmsInc (talkcontribs) 01:50, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I never said that court and government sources are not reliable sources. I said that you emailing information to editors is not enough. I have also said the information must be published in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. This is most important on biographies of living people such as this one. Sometimes even reliable sources get the information wrong. GB fan (talk) 02:16, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GB Fan, Who do I have the VA send a letter to, so I can should you and Retserrof84 you have no idea what you are talking about? Especially regarding my military service. If you go to my IMDb page - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2652647/ you will see the one video shows me getting therapy at the VA on my knee and there is a reason why I have a Special Forces Sniper Tattoo on my right forearm. Also, in October 1979, Pope John Paul II was a Shea Stadium. Father Jack from St. Hedwig's Church grew up in Poland with the former Pope. That is how I meet him. St. Hedwig's Holy Name Society was invited for the Pope's visit. ImpalerFilmsInc —Preceding unsigned comment added by ImpalerFilmsInc (talkcontribs) 02:42, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can have the VA send a letter to a news organization so they can write a story about your military service. Then we will have a published reliable source that we can use as a reference. I am not sure what you need to show me that I don't know what I am talking about. I don't believe you are lying about the information you have given, but as I have stated multiple times now we need reliable sources for the information. This isn't my rule, it is a policy within Wikipedia to protect the people we have articles about and also to protect Wikipedia from lawsuits. GB fan (talk) 11:47, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
GB Fan, Wiki has re-instated my Jonathon The Impaler account. Can you PLEASE upload my picture from this article? http://conservativedailynews.com/2011/05/jonathon-sharkey-2012-presidential-candidate-profile/ as you will see, it is a liable source and i did have to send them all links and documents proofing my service in the Army, my VA Disability etc... I was told NOT to edit my own page, but, I could talk on the discussion page. Thank you. If someone reads this and sock puppets me, I know who to email at wiki to have it undone. This is me... IMDB

I removed all the information attributed to IMDB. It is not a reliable source for personal information. The IMDB entry says it was written by Sharkey so it is a self published reference, therefore, not reliable. I also removed a statement that just discussed who he dates, not encyclopedic.
