Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction Allagadda (Template:Te) is a mandal in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located 120 km from Kurnool on National Highway 18 and is the border of the districts Kurnool and Kadapa. Allagadda is notorious for its political factions and famous for the sculptures.[citation needed]

Geography

Allagadda is situated on the bank of river Vakkileru.

(The route from Kurnool to Kadapa on the National Highway 18..)

History

ALLAGADDA Initially it was named as Avulagadda (Avula means cows and Gadda means place). It was so named because there were once a large number of cows in the area. While the people called it "Aavulagadda", the British understood it as "Allagadda" and so the name was understood as Allagadda. Allagadda is famous for stone art(sculpture) in India. Traditional sculpture, the famous Traditional sculptors form this Town are Mahasilpi Durugadda Balaveerachri (1926–1986), who was won the award in First world Telugu conferences in 1975, and fecilitated in Andhra pradesh Rajatotsav celebrations in 1983.and other famous Traditionl sculptor was Durugadd Ramachari(1935–2008) who served as professor in Telugu University.

the main contribution of Allagadda Traditional sculptors are mainly Mhanandi Ramalayam (the ceiling in the mandapa and garbhagriha the execeptional work of art of them), Srisailam Bhramarambha gudi, Chagalamarri Ammavarisala, Ramalayam at Brahmagari matam etc., in almost all those places you can find their portraits carved on the pillars by themselves, their tradition was of Vijayanagara style and unfortunately due to commercialization of traditional art practice, now they are influenced by Calendar art or Jaipur style of work.

There are three ATM centers. One is S.B.I.the second is Andhra Bank, now the third is HDFC ( Opposite S.B.I.) Here politics played a main role in change of bus-depot. MLA's are coming and going but there is no change in the situation of development. For some families the surname became same as the village name who contributed well for shaping the village. There are so many chances for development in stones industries and sculpting is one of the great art of Allagadda but no one is trying to give the assistance for the people who are living on this art.

AHOBILAM is one of the most famous (Historic temple) Lord Narasimha Swami temple which is very near to Allagadda.(20 K.M. Approx..) The god is in a cave and very beautiful place to visit.(July to Feb)...[1]

Politics

ALLAGADDA is a beautiful Town..Famous for Quality Education, Agriculture as well as Business.

Allagadda is mostly known to the Telugu people as Bombula Gadda (bombs' place) as it was very notorious for factional fights. Clashes between political parties often resulted in throwing bombs at each others.(in 1970-1995) These bombs were country made and were called natu bombulu (hand made bombs).

But apart from this Allagadda is comparatively an developing place...past it was underdeveloped town because of scarcity of water and more Hot weather & faction etc...,

AHOBILAM is one of the most famous (Historic temple) Lord Narasimha Swami temple which is very near to Allagadda.(20 K.M. Approx..) The god is in a cave and very beautiful place to visit.(July to Feb)...[2]

Normally people can speak Telugu with a different slang (Rayalaseema) which is known for its rudeness but it produces a fleetingness when actually speak in that dialect as a born person in Allagadda or in any other place in Kurnool district.

Bhooma & Gangula families are prominent leaders for the past 35 years ,both played a crucial role in politics as MLAs and MPs. At present Shoba Nagi Reddy is MLA. S.P.Y.Reddy is MP from Nandyal. In the 90's M.P. Gangula Pratap Reddy resigned in favor of P.V.Narasimha Rao, the then Prime Minister of India, who became the M. P. of Nandyal. our great veera shiva stays there.

The greatest person from Allagadda is Mr. Guru Venkatesh.
