Rollback (add request)

I find the undo feature is too slow for me. I need an upgrade. Thanks! #1 Fan of Queen (Talk | Contribs) 22:33, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. You have little to no recent experience fighting real vandalism here on Wikipedia. If you want the rollback tool, show us that you need it! Go to Special:RecentChanges and make 50 or so vandalism reverts, either with the undo function, or the userscript, Twinkle. Once you have done that, come back and request the tool again. -FASTILY (TALK) 23:26, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
Near-instantaneous reversion of vandalism or self. I am a college student now, so I both care much less about and have much less time for disputes than I once did. —Xiaoyu: 聊天 (T) 贡献 (C) 03:22, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Question: What has changed since [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]? What measures have you taken to ensure that you will stay cool during editing and refrain from attacking others? -FASTILY (TALK) 03:41, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And where is your new evidence? All you have shown are episodes from the toiling last weeks of school and the beginning of the worst summer I have had to endure. And yet again you come here asking for a confrontational mindset since, again, you are handling my request. You have been told to avoid such behaviour, and I have largely rectified my issues. It is clear that you have failed to learn your lesson here. You are attempting to "give me a hard time", so to speak, and the only thing you have succeeded in doing is worsening or hardening your own image.
You would not believe me one bit no matter what I said about "measures taken". The most I am willing to state to you is that I have less desire to edit and thus there is far less potential for me to flare up due to anything on WP. I have for a long while decided to let others deal with problematic edits from exceedingly tenacious IPs (frankly any such edit should be an immediate block-able offence) —Xiaoyu: 聊天 (T) 贡献 (C) 04:19, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, it seems I need not raise a finger to comment on your behavior! You are sensationally adept at self-incriminating, did you know that? FASTILY (TALK) 04:54, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No I am not, not at all. However, you are sensationally adept at "trying the same method even after it has failed" (or however it is phrased). —Xiaoyu: 聊天 (T) 贡献 (C) 05:09, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) Persistence, maybe? --Σ talkcontribs 05:18, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not quite. There is a phrase (used by Arnold Schwarzenegger) essentially stating that it is folly to repeat a method that has proved to fail. That is what is Fastily is up to, and he will continue to receive criticism for responding to my queries. This is not an attack; it is what it is.
Whatever. This could be my last stand, and if it is, the project has much to lose...the mere mention of the existence of places that should have occurred many years ago will be delayed even further. I am valued more than certain others may think, you know. —Xiaoyu: 聊天 (T) 贡献 (C) 05:37, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question: if you want other users to deal with unruly users, precisely why do you need rollback? Would it not make sense to go away and write these articles, a task that rollback will not assist you with, instead? Ironholds (talk) 06:20, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I guess that means I failed to explain myself. I can get in trouble for using rollback for repeated reversions such as this that are not dealing with explicit vandalism but are still strongly against community consensus. However, I cannot be punished if rollback is used on undisputed vandalism/blanking or if I am reverting myself. —Xiaoyu: 聊天 (T) 贡献 (C) 11:39, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Not done As your WP:ANI case has proven, you have not learned how to collaborate with other editors without disrupting the encyclopedia. I believe that giving you rollback at this time will only further disrupt the project in the future.--v/r - TP 13:07, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Storming off in a flurry of tears is not going to get you rollback. Reaper Eternal (talk) 02:27, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not a very active user. Would like to be able to combat vandalism as quickly as possible when I am on here. Ghostshock (talk) 10:55, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done - I need to see more evidence of your ability to identify vandalism before handing you this right. — Joseph Fox 11:12, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Vandalism and sock-puppetry is high in the Arab-Israeli conflict area. In the past few weeks I have found myself combatting both of them more often. This feature would be helpful. I am also very familiar with the procedures regarding WP:ARBPIA and have done my part to warn users of vandalism and the 1RR. -asad (talk) 16:01, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
 Done -FASTILY (TALK) 20:03, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To make fixing vandalism easier. I find looking through Recent changes page and hunting for vandalism to revert is quite a a bit of fun (though addictive), however I'm running into a few cases where I find successive vandal edits that are difficult to revert, eg [9] and [10] are two of the vandalized articles that I've attempted to fix. I've found several others that I didn't even bother trying to because there were so many edits. May I have rollback granted to me so this process is streamlined? I understand that rollback is only to be used in special cases and abuse will have the permission revoked. Fasttimes68 (talk) 17:18, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have random spurts of recent IP edit patrolling to find problems and would greatly appreciate the rollback feature being enabled for me. I can assure you I am trustworthy enough for it to be enable. JoshuaJohnLee talk softly, please 23:07, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) Your right it is spotty and I think you'll find Twinkle far better than Rollback but, I see no reason to deny your request. Good luck. Mlpearc powwow 02:26, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the past I have requested for rollback only for it to be declined per WP:NotNow, now I believe that I am ready as I undid a lot of vandalism since my last request, I also know 100% how rollback works as I am an admin on Wikia, Thanks ChristianandJericho (talk) 08:18, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems I was the one who declined ChristianandJericho's request last time, but I cited a lack of vandal-fighting experience, not WP:NOTNOW as that applies to RfA only. No opinion on this new request as I'll let someone else handle it. Acalamari 09:53, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
ChristianandJericho, I noticed this reversion of vandalism. Why didn't you leave a warning note on the IP's talk page?Wifione Message 14:16, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Because it turned out to be true, see the next few edits --ChristianandJericho 14:44, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done I'm assuming good faith that this was only an honest mistake. Use the rollback right extremely carefully; and never for edit warring. Act responsibly on all occasions. Best. Wifione Message 17:42, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your request can be considered, but please be aware that your current signature does not follow the guideline. WP:SIGN provides that "Signatures which include no reference to the user's username (for example by signing with a nickname, as in [[User:Example|User:Nickname]] are strongly discouraged.." EdJohnston (talk) 05:59, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) User requested rollback 4 days ago. --Σ talkcontribs 06:45, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Not because of the time between requests, but because I don't see any notable vandal-fighting since your last request. Acalamari 09:53, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
