Compared to Shearer?

I clicked on the link to the story where it compared him to Shearer, but to be fair it just says he shares his work ethic. it actually says in the same article

"To hail Carroll as the new Shearer would be unfair
on the young forward, who turned 20 last week."

It seems that this statement was trying to hail him as a new Shearer. come on, he's scored 7 goals, he's hardly Shearer class yet.

Captaincy

Whilst it might be strictly correct to say that he first captained Newcastle on 3rd October 2010 when he came on for Nolan, this is clearly a case of the substituted captain giving the armband to the nearest available person (being the guy replacing him). No way would this have been sanctioned by the manager. It demeans the captaincy role to "award" him captaincy status for this fleeting spell as captain. I vote for deletion of this sentence. Liverpool

He has not yet signed for Liverpool. What numpty has edited this and then locked the article to prevent it being changed back?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.246.151.130 (talk) 15:54, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sky Sports News reporting he's signed - no confirmation on number though (would assume #9 replacing Judas MkII, but you never know) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.6.149.134 (talk) 22:54, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The BBC have said Liverpool and Newcastle have agreed a fee, but still personal terms and probably other stuff, so not happened yet. [1] --86.161.2.228 (talk) 17:55, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(meant for the section above obviously), was an edit in between and I pasted into the wrong spot --86.161.2.228 (talk) 17:56, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. That page appears to be a copy of Twitter and as such is not reliable. If this is true, it will surely be reported by the press in a more reliable manner. There is no rush. -Atmoz (talk) 21:53, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He's No Longer NU's property

He has transferred to Liverpool officially as on 10:55 GMT. Please change accordingly. 24.150.172.40 (talk) 22:55, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Carroll did not submit a transfer request, Newcastle United lied

The Editor of Newcastle United fanzine Toon Talk claims that Andy Carroll was forced to join Liverpool and did not hand in a transfer request. This can be confirmed from http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/874125/liverpool's-andy-carroll-forced-out-of-newcastle-united?cc=4716 60.50.233.215 (talk) 09:00, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"The transfer made Carroll the eighth overall most expensive footballer"

He was/is either "the eleventh overall most expensive footballer" or "was sold for the eighth highest transfer fee". Due to inflation, he is not "the eighth overall most expensive footballer", as past transfer fees are worth more in present day value of money. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajgarnett (talkcontribs) 14:34, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Have fixed.

Injury?

Dont you think the article should include something mentioning carrolls injury, and why he hasnt played for liverpool yet (because of the injuery). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.141.232.177 (talk) 15:01, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request to put a photo in Liverpool shirt

Having the photo in Newcastle shirt do not reflect the current situation. A sincere request to editors to change it to a photo with Carroll in Liverpool shirt. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Golevishal08 (talkcontribs) 06:52, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously opinionated nonsense

"Carroll, an occasional scorer in Newcastle United's reserve team" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.224.224.139 (talk) 21:43, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

that's actually a fact. Soon he'll be an occasional scorer in Liverpool's reserve team.--86.45.195.234 (talk) 22:57, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He scored one in the Carling Cup

Andy Carroll scored one goal in the Carling Cup against Exeter City, this means that he scored a total of 3 goals instead of 2. Why isn't this added up? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.160.150.250 (talk) 00:49, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The infobox at the top right is for league goals only, as it says underneath. The main table is updated. GedUK  12:30, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"After Newcastle's game at home to Blackpool, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway described Carroll as the best striker in the Premier League."

No he hasn't.

He described him as "one of, if not the best, centre forwards in the league". There's a distinct difference between a centre forward and a striker. Also, "One of, if not the best" would be more of a "Holloway has said that Carroll is possibly the best centre forward in the league", rather than "Carroll is the best centre forward in the league", since that wording suggests uncertainty and Holloway says in the rest of the interview that he hasn't come up against the likes of Torres or Drogba yet.

Please edit.
