Raja Mohan is an Indian film director, primarily working in the Tamil film industry. As of 2011, he has directed six films, all of them being a remake.[1] Notably all his five directorials in Tamil starred his brother Jayam Ravi and were produced by his father, editor Mohan under his home production studio, Jayam Company.

Career

Raja is the son of film editor, A. Mohan, and older brother of actor, Jayam Ravi.[2] He made his directorial debut in Telugu with Hanuman Junction, a remake of the Malayalam film Thenkasi Pattanam, which remains his only non-Tamil project.[3] His next film, Jayam, a remake of the same-titled Telugu film, introduced his brother Jayam Ravi in the lead role. Jayam became a superhit, thereby the siblings are called Jayam Raja and Jayam Ravi. His subsequent directorials, M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi, Unakkum Enakkum, Santosh Subramaniam all featured his brother in the lead role and emerged commercial successes. His fifth film Thillalangadi with his brother again was an average grosser. He finished Velayudham with Vijay which released Diwali 2011 to highly positve reviews both from critics and public. The movie also rocked the box office. Velayudham has taken Raja to new heights and he is the man of the moment. Velayudham was also his first tamil movie that he had casted a different hero as the protagonist, as all his movies before were with his brother Jayam Ravi.
