Twombly is notorious for producing meaningless scribble that looks like a hamfisted parody of a style that was already looking dated decades ago. But what can you do? He is recognised by some of his peers, and so he should be treated respectfully on Wikipedia. Perhaps a couple of quotes from reputable critics would be in order (negative and positive), simply to demonstrate the divergence of views. Patrick Neylan20:56, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Funny, I can't find any negative critics online — even Google is helpless. How can that be? Anyone making a all-white canvas for $2m should have its critics. Solian en (talk) 15:26, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am hesitant to add any references to Twombly's homosexuality, but it seems a bit inconsistent to discuss Twombly's romantic involvement with Robert Rauschenberg on the Rauschenberg page and completely ignore it here, particularly because the two artists became sexually involved before Rauscenberg's divorce. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.124.89.116 (talk) 21:16, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So which sneaky person has removed the reference, without explanation? Suggest it is reinstated forthwith, for the reasons originally given.
Whence the name Twombly?
Does anyone have info about the idiosyncratic family name "Twombly" -- especially where it comes from? Thanks, Maikel (talk) 15:40, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And can somebody who knows please add to the page how to pronounce it? "Two" like "tomb"? So like "womb" or like "Womble"? The last part like "crumbly"? "b" silent or pronounced? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.113.106.24 (talk) 20:11, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
