Akhilesh Yadav (Hindi: अखिलेश यादव) (born 1 July 1973) is an Indian politician and the Lok Sabha member for Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Malti Devi[1]. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj in a by-election in 2000. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2009 general elections.
Akhilesh Yadav has won three Lok Sabha elections since 2000.[2] He spearheaded the campaign to bring the Samajwadi Party back to power in the 2012 UP Assembly election. According to results on March 6, 2012, Samajwadi Party was the clear winner of the election.[3]
Education
He studied at the Military School Dholpur, Rajasthan. [4]He earned Bachelor degree in engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering,Mysore and later opted for Masters in environmental engineering from University of Sydney.[5][6]
2009 By
The Firozabad seat had been won by Akhilesh Yadav in the May 2009 general elections by a margin of 67,301 votes against Bahujan Samaj Party candidate SPS Baghel. Akhilesh, who also won from Kannauj, vacated the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat, leading to a by poll. He studied at Dholpur Military School.[7][8][9]
2012 UP assembly elections
Akhilesh Yadav's campaigning style and persona was a key role in helping the Samajwadi Party towards a historic victory in the Uttar Pradesh's Assembly Elections held in 2012 ,with Samajwadi party winning 224 seats out of total 403,being the single largest party thus forming the government.His key rival was Rahul Gandhi who's party INC managed a mere 34 seats.
