UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by Ultimate Fighting Championship on April 21, 2012 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.[1]

Background

The event was originally expected to take place on March 24, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, but due to scheduling complications, the event was cancelled.[2]

UFC Primetime returned to promote the main event[3], as the history and histrionics between the two fighters has helped to make the event highly anticipated amongst fans[4]. During a joint interview on FuelTV a heated back-and-forth broke out between Jones and Evans. At one point Jones claimed Lyoto Machida "knocked [Rashad] out silly." This was an allusion to the infamous "Shadface" photo[5] that depicts Evans as he is being knocked out by Lyoto at UFC 98, a photo that still haunts Evans to this day[6].

Matt Wiman was expected to face Mark Bocek at this event, but was forced off the card with an injury and replaced by the returning John Alessio.[7]
