Children's Book Award (UK)
Appearance
The Red House Children's Book Award is a series of literary prizes for works of children's literature published during the previous year. The prize was known as the Children's Book Award from its inauguration in 1981. The award was established by The Federation of Children's Book Groups. In 2001 when it began to be sponsored by the mail order bookshop Red House, a brand owned by bookselling company The Book People, it changed its name. The award is still owned and coordinated by The Federation of Children's Book Groups.
There are three categories: Younger Children, Younger Readers and Older Readers. From the winners of these, an overall winner is selected. The award is judged entirely by children.
