I am working on revising the stub of the Wes Hampton page, and I would like to be able to upload his promo picture as it was the best free one there was. http://www.weshampton.com/images/downloads/wes-hampton-photo1.jpg That is the photo, I am not aware with any issues with it. •  Not done – Hi, and thank you for creating an account to edit Wikipedia. Although I fully understand your desire to dive right in, many of our articles are semi-protected because they are controversial, prone to vandalism, or other reasons. As a new editor with few edits, it might be wise to discuss your edits on the article talkpage in order to gain consensus for your edits, and then use {{Edit semi-protected}} to request the edit be performed. I only recommend this until you are used to the challenges of reliable sources, the biographies of living persons policy, and other similar policies. The good news is that fewer than 5 percent of Wikipedia articles are protected; this means that more than 95 percent of the articles can use your help right now! I'd like to edit the semi-protected article on Condoleeza Rice Realsupergirl (talk) 04:41, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I am a student at a Dental school, and I have let the admissions office know I will be updating their site. I have been working on constructing the page on a word document, so I do not have the 10 edits to have a confirmed account. I need a confirmed account so I can add pictures of the facilities around the school to the page. I only will be using this account for this page, so if possible please confirm this account so I can finish. Thank you. Today2 (talk) 15:07, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Question - What is the copyright status of the image(s) or file(s) you wish to use? Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 15:29, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for confirming my account, Armbrust. I'm not sure how to answer your question, except by adjusting this. All of my pictures will be free work, except for two, as they are just pictures taken by the public of the building, neighborhood around the school, etc... The other two will be of the school seal, and I will be marking those copyrighted, but I believe them to be fair use. The seal is already on there, but I am just using a more recent version. Plus, I am a student and the school knows I am updating this for them, so I'm confident this falls under "Fair Use." Thank you again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Today2 (talkcontribs) 15:42, 13 July 2012‎
Please note that your account has not been confirmed.--Chip123456 (talk) 15:52, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Question: Could you tell, from which dental school you're speaking? Is possible, that the picture about the image of the building can be released under a free license. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 16:42, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Chip, then how do I get my account confirmed? What is the process? Armbrust, it's an american dental school. Yes, I believe that's correct about the pictures of the building being under the free license. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Today2 (talkcontribs) 17:28, 13 July 2012‎
  •  Not done This type of image can only be upload to a current, existing article. As you're drafting yours offline instead of in a WP:USERSPACEDRAFT, we cannot even tell of the article will meet the basic requirements of inclusion for Wikipedia. As such, we cannot grant permissions to upload yet. Once the article becomes official, you will be able to upload images to it - as I assume by then you will have gained sufficient experience editing Wikipedia (✉→BWilkins←✎) 17:36, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • BWilkins, I will simply be updating an existing article that's already on wikipedia. I will add the different sections in pieces in order to get the sufficient experience amount needed to add pictures, though. Thank you. Armbrust, I have made the edits on the dental page I'm changing. I believe you are able to see which page I've modified, but if not it's Tufts Dental. I just need the ability to add the pictures of the building and such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Today2 (talkcontribs) 18:09, 13 July 2012‎
Somebody should keep an eye on this one for COI and NPOV concerns. It's already starting to read like a promotional brochure for the school. 50.131.220.134 (talk) 18:11, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Who owns the copyright of the pictures? Just because they are posted on the website does not mean they are free. GB fan 01:35, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
