Dallas Green (born September 29, 1980 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is the guitarist and singer in the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. He is highly praised by critics for his piercing vocals and melodic voice, present in nearly all of Alexisonfire's songs. One of his most striking features, as well as his voice, are the number of tattoos that adorn his body. He has full arm sleeves as well as tattoos on his torso and back. In addition to his work with Alexisonfire, Green also has a solo project named City and Colour, which revolves around songs of an acoustic variety. The name comes about from his own name: Dallas is a city, Green is a colour. His full length debut CD Sometimes was released on November 1, 2005.
Dallas Green also appears on Neverending White Lights' collaborative album Act 1: Goodbye Friends of the Heavenly Bodies (2005), contributing vocals to the song "The Grace".
His first solo music video, "Save Your Scissors" from the album Sometimes, was released on January 17, 2006, featuring some of his best friends, and favourite places in, St. Catharines, Ontario. It can be viewed on the Dine Alone Records Website.
Sometimes has achieved gold record status in Canada.
Awards
City and Colour won solo artist of the year at the 2006 Indie Awards. Dallas also presented Bedouin Soundclash with Single of the Year and the Radio Awards.
Trivia
- The song Missing was written about a former religion teacher of Green's, named Ralph Serravalle, who sadly died of cancer. One track CDs of this song were sold at his early shows and all proceeds went to a high school charity event that Serravalle had started, and continuously supported.
- Before joining Alexisonfire, Green was in a band called Helicon Blue which made many songs before breaking up.
- Dallas Green's Myspace page states that he wears pants that are made for girls.
- As well as singing and playing guitar, Green is a keen skateboarder and has been skating since he was a teenager.
- Green has many pairs of Hi-top Nike Classic shoes in various colours.
- Green is a big basketball fan.
