For example, edits to articles or uploads of other media are done in my individual, personal capacity unless otherwise stated.
My name is Sarah Stierch. I am a Wikimedia Foundation Community Fellow for the year of 2012, focusing on engaging more women to participate in Wikipedia. One of the projects I have worked on is the Teahouse! This is not a standard staff position - it's a temporary position that any community member may apply for. Follow the WMF Community Fellow link to learn how you can become one!
As a volunteer, I have also served as Wikipedian in Residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives and Archives of American Art.
I am deeply committed to the concept of open culture and free knowledge. I believe that the concept of open culture is imperative to meeting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 27.1: " Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits."
I live in the Oakland. I have my Masters of Arts in museum studies from George Washington University and my bachelor's in Native American Studies. My background is in curatorial practice focusing on fine art and history. I used to be a make-up artist and a DJ, too!

I am honored to received some awards from my fellow Wikipedians (who are all sad people like me who have no lives), you can see them here. Every week I invent some new title or badge for myself just like all the other editors. Just for the laughs you understand.

I have specific interests in women's and artist biographies, towns I'll never visit, wineries, restaurants, places I do like to visit, and other general subjects. I tend to start at the beginning of the alphabet - there are a lot of A's in my work.
